Ehhhhhh.
Very catchy, great singing (except of the reverb that adds nothing), and dreamy production that could be great if expanded upon.
It falls flat with the lyrics, it's very short run time (I mean that outro could have been great but it just cuts out), and forgettable even though it is an earworm.

actually really good

Vampire Weekend - Father of the Bride

Vampire Weekend's brand new hour long LP is in some places (as everyone has said) bloated. With some cuts this could be AOTY material. But the songs we have gotten are pretty great, if none do blow me away (expect maybe My Mistake on first listen).
A lot of different influences pop up one this album from country to some Spanish dance BOPS (Sympathy), some straight up King Krule jazz (My Mistake), and dad rock.
The lyrics are typical VW. All about love, religion, and introspection. Unbearably ... read more

I feel like I'm at a party in the early 70's hanging out with my Alabama brother's having the night over our lives. This album had me dancing, jumping, and BOOGIEING for almost the entirety of it. Real great stuff.
Also that change in Acarine when it becomes all synthy, which leads straight into Cyboogie is amazing.

Weyes Blood - Titanic Rising

a little over hyped but still has its moments of greatness

Sufjan Stevens - Illinois

wow, just wow. An extremely emotional, beautiful, and just amazing album. This album really blows my mind in every department. The lyrics are fantastic, covering every square inch of Illinois' history. Every line (and title) could be traced back to either Illinois or Sufjan life in Illinois. Sufjan vocals sound so emotional and personal, and in some songs his vocals are buried under larger than life orchestral passages. The choirs popping up and singing some great progressions and the youthful ... read more

Avey Tare - Cows on Hourglass Pond

Better than most animal collective solo albums, but still not as great as when they team up. Some song introduce a great melody or groove, but then he just loops it for 4 mins. Still, it's not as bad as some other bands that do looping, because it works to this albums advantage. Avey really does make you feel like your floating through space in some songs. Sometimes reverb soaked noises comes in and fill up all the empty space, or Avey will start playing around with his acoustic guitar, and his ... read more

The guitars syncing up with the vocals during the middle and end were unique and memorable. The chorus was dreamy and soothing, and the verses were charming and cute. However, this song does seem quite lazy. It's barely 2 minuets, the lyrics were cute but generic, and I feel like I've heard it before. Overall; Fun and funky, but a bit uninspired.

Foxygen - We Are the 21st Century Ambassadors of Peace & Magic

Extremely unique, fun, and lovely vocals (San Francisco, WATTCAOPAM). Strange lyrical and instrumental undertone (On Blue Mountain, In The Darkness), and switch ups multiple times in the same song (Shuggie, WATTCAOPAM). This album has ethereal highs (the end of 'Oh No') and soft lows (On Blue Mountain). Maybe some songs are a bit short, the album is a brisk 36 minutes, and some songs kinda tread the same water as other tunes, but that is it for the negatives. Overall; A quirky, bright, ... read more

Sharon Van Etten - Remind Me Tomorrow

Really nice effects on some song, with nice lyrics about love and family. Some songs are high 8s or 9s out of 10's (Malibu, You Shadow). Good crunchy drums, and extremely 80's synths and guitars. Some songs do feel a bit empty, and I feel like they could have maybe been expanded upon, but that about it for the negatives. Overall, pretty dreamy and nice synthpop.

Vampire Weekend - Harmony Hall / 2021

Really beautiful and gorgeous. Very warm, cozy, calm, and nice. There is something nostalgic about this song, maybe the piano, or the acoustic twangy guitars, I can't quite put my finger on it. Them taking lyrics from one of the songs they used before is kinda annoying, and the song does have some generic qualities to it, but overall I'd say give this one a listen.

The drums on these songs make me cum, the vocals and instruments are beautiful, and the lyrics are intriguing.

I thought that I couldn't get into this album, because I don't listen to noise rock and metal, but I really enjoyed this.

Foster the People - Worst Nites

Just awful. The only saving grace of this song is the bass line, but everything else is extremely generic indie pop.

Dang this is underrated. Like there are some extreme BOPS on this album (Everything You've Ever Learned, Ice Station Zebra). The cool down moments even are pretty nice, and a good change of pace (Abulia and Akrasia, Ezmerelda Steals The Show). There are even extremely funky moments (Get In The Mind Shaft, Corporation). Over all; why you all sleeping on this album?
