NO THANK YOU? More like YES LAWD!
EDIT: On "Control" Simz says: "Let's make a baby that's gorgeous and green"... Therefore as logic would dictate it must be a song about her everlasting love and affection towards Shrek, which clearly adds additional layers to the meaning behind the track. But not only that, if we are to assume that Simz is being honest and not lying (which is something she repeats multiple times throughout her discography) this means that Shrek not only ... read more

Yeah no this absolutely slaps and is my favourite of the like 4 Brockhampton albums I've listened to.
This is a look back at the good, the bad and the downright ugly times for the band from the perspective of only 1 of the members of the boyband. Soaked with soulful / gospel-like production that just emits love and the feeling of looking back at the good old times, Kevin (I hope I'm saying all this right, I don't really know the bandmates and their dynamics) paints a pretty compelling picture ... read more
This could be an album that is pure genius that will require a few more in-depth listens for me to fully unpack and understand (I'll keep editing this review if my opinions change, which is a huge possibility).
But as of right now (after only one listen) I see this as a huge step up for Quadeca from any album he's previously released, that occasionally feels overproduced and experimental just for the sake of being experimental. The like 20 seconds right after the 3:10 mark on the track ... read more
I hope one day Joji either goes full on piano sad boi mode or full on "Joji Sweatshirt - Some Ballad Songs" on our ass, cause these trap inspired 2 minute~ish tracks ain't doing it for me chief.
I don't know... This album is what you get when you throw the words "well produced" and "atmospheric" but also words like "painfully uninteresting", "formulaic" and "predictable" in to a blender.
There are absolutely highlights here. The tracks Clara and Berwyn come to mind (even if for totally different reasons), but these get lost in a sea of forgettable tracks for me.
Kammy (like I do) tries it's very best to be another Marea or Turn on ... read more
Man... I admit that I might just be a sucker for anything ambient and remotely psychadelic. I will also admit that if there is a genre of music I actively listen to that I find difficult to rate, that genre would be ambient.
But when an album like this can keep me fully engaged with it for the full hour of runtime, to the point of me completely losing track of time and any and all sense of what track I am on and how the track titles relate to the music I'm hearing, what else am I supposed to ... read more
JID is back and holy hell was this worth the wait. Absolutely phenomenal!
The first half of the album is literal banger perfection, meanwhile the second half takes a slower approach but is still filled with incredible tracks with very few weak points.
JID played to his strengths on this one and gave us a consistently great album, well worth the 4 year wait.
Absolutely astonishing how quickly someone can transition from incredibly sweet and relatable tracks like Visiting Hours and First Times, to the most generic, safe, soulless and emotionally vacant songs possible (Bad Habits, Shivers and many others on this album).
In short: if you told me that 3/4 of the beats and melodies on here were produced in a laboratory, after which Ed Sheeran was chosen to sing over them just because he is popular and sells records (not because he actually brings ... read more
15 tracks, 45 minutes of Jack Harlow reminding you he gets laid a lot while talking about how the youth is hostile cause of fumes from the fossils???
Oh btw Jack gets a lot of dat pu$$y just in case you didn't know.
Like from a lot of women btw.
He gettin laid a lot...
EDIT: I'm also not sure how exactly Pharrell finessed Jack into giving him the worst beat he's ever made and getting paid for that, but here we are
Honestly, everything about this is such a shame.
Underneath some truly awful production choices and all of the boredom this album instilled in me, I hear a genuinely fascinating mix of tracks that remind me of Dawn FM, Frank Ocean and Swedish House Mafia (with Klahr, an Axtone signee, producing one of the tracks here).
But when the main star power of this album (Drake) can't come up with a single good hook and honestly drags every track down to the point where I can't think of a single song ... read more
