Kendrick Lamar - Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers
91

Kendrick's best effort since TPAB. This album exemplifies a multitude of Kendrick's strong points while bringing new themes to the table. Bringing forth the theatrical qualities as well as a somewhat concise narrative of TPAB and GKMC while maintaining a more visceral and individualistic qualities of it's tracks like DAMN. , this album is a product of Kendrick's work up until now. Btw, if you think DAMN. is as good or even better than this, you are out of your mind.

Conway the Machine - God Don't Make Mistakes
83

A very grim yet flavorful record. Conways last release is a hard hitting one. Lyrically and performance wise he seems to be at the top of his form, delivering lively yet emotionally exhaustive performances. Many tracks on this thing such as Stressed seem to touch upon a very personal and sensitive emotional place. Lathered with features from major figures from both the mainstream and the underground which all bring something to the table and add to the emotional value of the record, this ... read more

Earl Sweatshirt - SICK!

Earl always delivers. I love Earl. And so should you.

Amber Mark - Three Dimensions Deep
70

A decent RnB release. Amber Mark's debut album is a solid one. An extensive tracklist which is rather consistent, however lacks in highlights. A formulaic RnB release befitting of a ''first-album'', showcasing a glaring potential for Amber Mark to become one of the main figures of contemporary RnB, excited to see how she progresses on her next projects.

Pusha T - It's Almost Dry
80

A very solid album. Pusha T continues to deliver quality with each release as is pretty much expected from him at this point. This tracklist is rather strong, with close to no drags on it. The delivery is clean, the production from Kanye and Pharrell is as expected, and the features all bring something interesting to the table. My only issue with this would be that it is a very safe release: it doesn't take any considerable risk and doesn't really show any particular evolution in Pusha's ... read more

Curren$y & The Alchemist - Continuance
75

Not the most hard hitting hip-hop release of 2022, but it definetly is a quality one. This album is extremely good at what it is supposed to be: a laid back listening experience, with layered and chill production from the Alchemist and very lowkey yet effective spitting delivered by Curren$y. Nothing too hard hitting or overbearing on this project, however for those who enjoy the usual work put out by artists working with The Alchemist will definetly find a lot to love about this project. Radiohead - In Rainbows
98

Radiohead's best album in my book.

Black Country, New Road - Ants From Up There
90

This album is pretty much back to back, sadboy anthems. The tracks are all so stand-out and grand, but all flow so well together, thematically and sonically. Don't let the upbeat tone of some of these tracks fool you, this album is depressing, but awesome. Must listen.

Chief Keef - Finally Rich
100

It just don't get better than this. This is peak.

Lil Durk - 7220

Two Bud Lights deep in and she sayin things she don't mean.

billy woods - Aethiopes
88

Billy Woods coming out with an album as cryptic as his persona. Exceptionally grimy lyrics and flows thrown on top of rather unconventional and instrumental beats, mash together in one of the more original hip-hop releases to come out this year. The feats all add something to the picture and aesthetically this album is right up Billy's alley. The imagery on this record is just right and the delivery follows.

Danny Brown - Atrocity Exhibition

AND IT'S A DOWNWARD SPIRAL

Kanye West - My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy
98

Kanye's mangum opus. His grand return to rap. His contextual beast of an album. Longly discussed and praised, this album is in my book one of the biggest hiphop achievements to date. The tracklist is near flawless, however slightly losing focus nearing the end with tracks like Blame Game which we might argue don't fit the theme all that well, ultimately why this isn't a 100. However the run from Dark Fantasy all up until Runaway is one of the greatest musical experiences I've ever had the ... read more

yeule - Serotonin II
72

In her first full lenght LP, Yeule has managed to capture a feeling, which is shared amongst a grand majority of a seemingly lost generation. Through spacy and dreamy productions as well as Yeule's transcendental vocals, Yeule manages to deliver a glitchy and heavily internet influenced sense of melancholia, tied to the prevelant feeling of the Internet being their only way of escape.

For this reason, i find this album to be quite innovative, as i've never seen someone talk about such a ... read more

Denzel Curry - Melt My Eyez See Your Future
85

Definetly one of Denzel's best. He explores and plays with many styles which we haven't seen from him before, rapping over etheral and pristine beats, jazz instrumentals and even breakcore on the slowthai feat. Despite a slight change in style however, Denzel's delivery never wavers, he still manages to deliver very strong punchlines, and his pen-work has stayed consistant if not gotten better since his last project. He gets very introspective on this project, which just adds to the overall ... read more

Swans - Soundtracks for the Blind
90

The constant anxiety inducing build ups, the poignant lyricism just creating extremely unsettling imagery, the terrifying symbolism and overbearing instrumentals all make this album what it is: a hallowing, 2 hour descent into one of the most unique experiences music has to offer. While it might be a bit too much at times and it is clear why it might turn some people off, this album is extremely rewarding if you are patient with it. Obvious highlights are Helpless Child and The Sound, both what ... read more

Emotionally worldbreaking. An etherally beautiful build up, leading the listener through a journey of what seems to be the experiencing of every single imaginable emotion, ending in a life changing wall of sound that breaks your soul and builds it back up. A contrast of hope and despair that leaves the listener absolutely speechless, concluded by possibly the greatest track ever concieved.

The Weeknd - Dawn FM
75

The Weeknds new release is certainly an interesting one. Dawn FM is probably The Weeknds most thematically concise album. The whole concept of listening to a radio station on your way to the afterlife is definetly quite unique, although I would have liked if it was a bit more fleshed out on this project. While the interludes are interesting yet not too intrusive, I can't keep myself from asking for more. The tracklist is definetly one of his tigther ones, with very consistant, retro 80s ... read more

FKA twigs - CAPRISONGS
35

Althought this project is a ''mixtape'', I cannot look over how directionless, empty and unmemorable it is. It certainly has some highlights and catchy hooks/choruses, but funnily enough all of these I've found on tracks which include features. The production is so bare-bone and middle of the road and the tracklist is for the most part forgettable. While the goal of this project isn't the same as Magdalene, I cannot help but feel like it is a considerable step-down.

Kendrick Lamar - To Pimp a Butterfly
100

Don't know what to say which hasn't already been said. One of the biggest musical achievements of our generation. An incredibly ambitious, thematically concise and sonically layered project. Truly a masterpiece.
