Aww, what a nice liquid tune, wait this isn't liquid. (You tried hiding your pain, but apparently the drop doesn't let you.)
Ok, in all seriousness, Culture Shock tried to make a melodic tune that drops hard, and it kinda worked. It starts out nice and fuzzy, until you hear the weighty bass seeping through the intricate arpeggios. Then in a sudden, the drop hits hard (really hard for a non-neuro track). It gave me a little shock until I ... read more

The final single before the album. The melodies at the drop reminds me of Devotion by Dimension but a little worse. And oh, they share the same key too. Nice.

Why is a remix track listed as single here? Anyways, LSB's liquid take on "There For You" is a nice calming track with lush synths and warm bass. At almost 6 minutes long, this is a track that prioritizes on flow than anything else (well older dnb tunes are as long as this so)

Take. it. down. to the bunker.
So a Bunker should sound like this huh? It's full of adrenaline and chaos. Every 8-16 bars in the drop, Culture Shock adds more elements to the mix, like the introduction of little synths, then clicky percussions and then clapping sounds (?). The little percussions during the whole drop makes it very enjoyable to listen to. Not only that, it's an excellent candidate for double dropping (I'm not a DJ, but when I ... read more

Justin Hawkes is back since Existential with another heartwarming tune huh? Ever since with his alias change, his style changed drastically too. He used to make vibey liquid tunes (I know, Hymn exists). Now, you got this screechy synth playing on drum breaks. It isn't that bad but the way it executed is...
More of a "hearthop" than "heartleap" for me.

I can imagine Dimension in the studio saying "fuck it, I'm turning this into DnB 😏" while remixing this. And it delivered.
no, I promise, I'm just a normal dimension fan sksksks

I've listened to bits of Daft Punk before, but since they were gaining a lot of popularity recently (because of the album), I decided to listen to this. Looking at the rating, the community sure love this album. With that I set a high bar for it, and it didn't disappoint me either (woah).
Listening to this album makes me forget the problems I have with it's charming and groovy melodies (well, for an hour and 14 minutes. My body kept grooving ... read more

No REAPER, you can't just a heavy ahh DnB drop that feels disjointed from the original in order to "fix" it. (heavy drop does bang though ngl, plus it's better than listening to the snoozefest david guetta made)

⌦ Don't confuse this with "Outer Edges Remixes", these are self-remixes and it's much shorter in terms of runtime.
A small VIP package for the album "Outer Edges" that will leave you bewildered. These were originally played for their Outer Edges audiovisual set, which is already a class in terms of both audio and visuals.
Personally, Outer Edges is one of the albums I cherish, and Noisia did a good job reimagining some of the tracks there. ... read more

Break's 5th (!) solo album on his label Symmetry Recordings with over 20 years of experience in the Drum & Bass scene. (Man, his contribution to DnB is longer than my age).
The album features legendary vocalists like MC Fats (R.I.P), and other well-known vocalists like Charli Brix. Speaking of Charli Brix I also like her performance on "Lost", which became one of my little highlights on this album (It's one of Break's personal ... read more

Yep, y'all saw that coming. I've added the album itself and its singles on the site before. Not to mention reviewing all the singles and putting them on a list.
Sub Focus' third solo album is all about pushing his sounds into new dimensions while reinforcing the inspirations he has in the past.

I personally find this album w/ Wilkinson the Sub Focus album I've enjoyed the most. Thank you Lennart for recommending this album. (he's not on aoty, but can be found on other socials)
Portals is a collab album by Sub Focus & Wilkinson and it is inspired by the more subtle, downtempo part of electronic music. Since it was released on 2020, this album was centered more in a home listening experience. (it will refresh your ears after ... read more

A solid debut album from one and only CloudNone. It features chillout, future garage, melodic bass and drum & bass [yes, cloudnone dnb].
What's fascinating about it is it wasn't released on Monstercat, knowing that CloudNone mostly releases there. He did released on other labels too, including Seeking Blue, the label where the album was released from.

My friend of mine swapped music tastes with me together and got this EP on playlist she gave to me. Just some good o'l digestible K-POP.
Also, I tried searching this girl group and it's surprising that they got mainstream exposure in less than a year. Talk about speed.

Kuchy, one of the AOTY lurkers, released their debut album. While there are some interesting beeps and boops there, most of the tracks here doesn't suit my taste. I did enjoy the instrumental tracks way more apparently...
Oh, don't take this as a negative comment, everyone has their own music taste. Some may vibe to this, but other don't. You can't please anyone

Tune reminds me of The Veldt by deadmau5.
Anyways, I feel like Hayla (vocalist) carries this track. While the production quality is great, the track itself feels a bit empty. Well I guess most people will vibe to this anyways because it's written like most mainstream dnb tunes (like calling for a sign). But even then calling for a sign is a banger.

I can't get enough of that arp ngl. Pair that with a hard-hitting DnB drum pattern and you got yourself a banger. Simple, but sets the groove on the overall track.

It's been a while about someone remixing a classic Opus III tune since goreshit's Fine Night (if i did missed any please notify me). Got to say it's on par with that track, and it's one of my favorite DnB tunes.
One of the highlights about this track is the drop comes casually, without hyping it up a lot. The drums are have a nice, organic sound and are pretty minimal throughout the track. Which makes ... read more
