underscores girl why did you leave out these songs when all of them (except My guy respectfully) are better than like 70% of the songs on the base album.
Just revisited this album and my feelings about it are very complicated. The lyrics are incredible and the production is (for the most part) amazing. I love the ambition she puts forward in this album, but this album has so many small issues. The vocals are often whiny to me, the choruses often have an annoying undertone to me, and there's small issues on nearly every song. My favorites ended up being both ends of the spectrum: the more simple and atmospheric songs (You don't even ... read more
Lengthy review incoming (way longer than I normally do):
As a Quadeca fan who got into his music with Scrapyard, this album has always been a weird one to me. I always loved the concept but couldn't really get pulled into the world and sound of the album. And while I still don't consider this to be Quadeca's strongest, it has some all-time highs and amazingly executed concepts.
I don't have a ton to say about the sound of this album- it has a really unique atmosphere but ... read more
So difficult to rate because I actually really love a lot of these songs and the concept, but with the nature of this project some songs fall pretty flat and the last song is one I'd never willingly listen to (even if it's entertaining)
Moves so fast that it doesn't really have time to develop its ideas- almost as if every song is building up to something that never comes. The instrumentation is very well done though (especially the drumming).
Feels weird to include in my year-end discussion (so I won't) largely due to 2/3rds being released last year. Because of this, it does feel weird classifying this and rating it as a project, but setting that aside this is some of their best songs easily. The two new songs are consistently growing on me and Dream Sequence, Flash in the Pan, and Magic I Want U continue to be amazing. Jane's voice is stunning, especially in this more pop context, and their production is as amazing as ... read more
I actually find this far better than the original. Maybe that's just because it's been a while and I'm giving this a deeper listen, but these new songs are really great and help the album flow together so much better. Great release.
definitely not bad, just very different from the original. Most of these songs/ demos/ alt versions are very peaceful but don’t leave a big impression
I love a lot of moments on this album but a lot of it feels like either missed potential from the features (JR...) or Danny trying something that just doesn't help the styles mix (Baby...)
also y'all are so wrong about green light y'all must not like frost children
Really interesting genre combo. Metal and noise rock like chat pile isn’t really my thing but it’s done pretty well here- shocked it goes at all with Hayden pedigo
600th album I've listened to! All I can say is that it took way too long for me to get to this. Infectious album in every way
Some decent tracks but holy.
So many of these melodies are just… bad.
The vocals are so dry the lyrics are so dry the sound is so dry this is just a dry ass album
