This Billie Elish record is lyrics-wise very much a reflection of her age. Subjects like heartbreak or very domestic struggles hit her hard, because she’s experiencing these things for the first time. After all, she’s only seventeen.
Even when a slightly corny line can be picked out, the quality of the music found here absolutely compensates for it, I’d argue, to an extent where any corniness is no longer a downweight at all.
