Take away the high production value, and you have a few mildly talented people spouting cringy Spanglish with mediocre at best delivery.
I'm not gonna pretend like I usually listen to this type of music, I'm only here for Kenny Beats. It's definitely very skillful and as someone whos played a fair bit of drums the drum work is incredible, but there's really not much going on here and once you look past the fast rhythms, nothing is really going on. Thankfully its only 9 minutes because I probably wouldn't have listened otherwise. That all being said it's not unlistenable and I can see how people would enjoy this, its just not for ... read more
It definitely has its moments (Pop Shit & Off My Chest go crazy), but overall its nothing special. I didn't want to skip any tracks, but it was very flat, and I don't see myself thinking about this much ever again. The features were all good and Ronnyy J honestly disappointed me a couple of times with some mediocre beats, but otherwise, it's his usual insane 808 style of production which complements Smokepurpp very well.
Tbh I wasn't huge on TLOP4 but on the deluxe, every song outdoes what was on the original release and is a very pleasurable listen. I would say that it's groundbreaking or anything but it's very well put together and just ahs some very fun energy. The other thing I love on here is the way he can transition between different tones perfectly and make it sound like its just one song, he does the same thing on the wolf of peach street (which is a must-listen imo), and he does it really well here
I only ended up listening to this album after finding vibin from Kenny Beats' story and I thought it was quite good so I listened to the rest of the album, and I have to say it was quite disappointing. I think the overall subject matter and having a vulnerable love centric rap album can definitely work, especially with someone as melodic as Key, but he just delivers weak flows over mediocre beats and most of this album does nothing for me. Even vibin, probably my favorite track on here has a ... read more
IM SO DISSAPOINTED. Nothing ever good enough is one of my favorite projects from recent memory and got me really hooked on Iann Dior's music. Industry plant felt too safe and as if he was just trying to recreate the brilliance that was his first project, and now this. It starts out ok but Pretty Girls & Sickness are just so safe and plain. My hope was restored on Shameless where for the first time since NEGE (excluding that awful Joji rip off on industry plant), he does something vaguely ... read more
It has some very fun songs but most of them feel like they're building to a climax that never arrives (cough cough Don't call me again). Oxygen SOTY tho.
I found this ep on the new releases page and decided to listen not knowing anything about it. The first two songs were very enjoyable and seeing as I don't speak or understand any Korean I can see myself coming back to this as good study music as it has great chill energy. My main reservation and why this doesn't score higher is that it can't seem to figure out what it wants to be, the ep is listed as R&B but on all songs except 1/1440 sounds much more like cafe sugar pop than R&B, ... read more
Maybe its nostalgia but the songs on here all really hit for me, and although it is very basic and poppy, James Blunt makes great use of that basic poppy sound to make some great feel-good tracks.
I used to think Polo G was basic and made bland music. I listened to die a legend hoping to get the hype and it was just a bunch of misses for me, but this really solidifies him in my mind as a really talented individual. He says some really interesting stuff overproduction that compliments him really well.
I thought I only love this because of nostalgia, but after revisiting it I realized every song on here slaps, its innovative, unique, and she perfectly works so many genres into a cohesive album with just some great production and her violin.
