Unlike my previous exposure to Sade via Love Deluxe, Diamond Life is a smooth and captivating listen front to back. Smooth Operator is a classic.
Yea, this is definitely one of my favorite rap albums ever made. Kanye and Dilla bring out quite a lot of different styles of jazzy beats, making this album a perfect and nostalgic time capsule for the greatest years of beats in hip-hop. Common's voice and lyrics are on point as always. Classic, stank-face-inducing album front to back.
This album is just smooth, that's all I have to say. Will have to listen to it a few more times before I can pick out specific things I like about it, but this album manages to bring out and somehow encapsulate really deep thoughts within itself, with its seemingly simple but impressive production. A less is more situation, I guess.
Pretty good album with smooth production, catchy samples and good features.
This album felt like it was searching for an identity throughout the entire hour it went on for and never quite found it. Nice beats, albeit some feeling dragged out or too long. I rarely found myself immersed in the songs on here as any immersion is often broken with some out of place chops or scratches. Overall very outdated, but still an undeniably impressive record on a technical level with quite a bit of highlights.
