singlehandedly killed my curiosity for the LP

I remember listening to sour candy on cromatica and thinking it was a lesser version of what rina already did with comme des garcons
now I listen to this and it just feels like a lesser version of chromatica

the album comes way too close to being AJR level blocky over compressed production at times, there's songs where lead singer comes out as anonymous or unfitting and a chunk of songs just feel like this stitching together of 2010's indie pop elements I already heard too many times.

blackpink shakes things up and stops making the same song again, and now that they did that I understand why they sticked with the same song for 3 years

it's fun, contagious and charming. sometimes that's all you need on a pop tune

this sounds like the kind of song that people who don't like kpop think kpop is

made in 2 days and still better than most pop stars carefully groomed tracks

It can be one-dimensional at times specially in the lyrics department, however, the production! it delivers on nearly every song this infectious instrumentals effectively referencing from disco to Y2K pop with strong attention to detail although the album doesn't go without a few underwhelming moments

the grand majority if the tracklist is utterly ruined by very questionable production choices
and feels like summer is there

lil uzi vert has the charisma but the album loses momentum every time lil uzi vert tries to tie together the concept of the album with the skits and cheesy sound effects and despite the odd sound palette the production is pretty run off the mill with mediocre drum programing and sampling

I love the way the production conveys the theme of the lyrics, it's a clever way of using the vocal processing that porter used in his last single to give a compelling narrative

the instrumental is basically anonymous and inofensive, however the lyrics are what makes this a dud to me, outside of a few moments the lyrics feel made for anyone to be able to self insert themselves it doesn't feel very personal

I had a feeling I wasn't going to like this given the underwhelming singles as well as the questionable selection of songs from Persona and now after giving it a few listens the album feels like a major recycle of Ideas BTS and other kpop groups have done before and better, the album has a severe lack of memorable moments, the most interesting Idea is how they try to reprise the intro track but they don't really do much with it.
