really good, but doesn't pack as much of a punch as ta13oo. MMESYF is a really consistent record that does a lot of things very very well, but i find that it retreads a lot of ground. this isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it's a big contrast from the diversity of ta13oo.

this album is actually so insane. the album's three-act structure is honestly incredible, allowing denzel to explore a lot of different vibes. the contrast between the first and third acts is amazing and each section has its own hit. this thing goes insane, the production sounds like music you could kill someone to in the best way possible. like listening to TA13OO just makes you feel like a badass. awesome stuff

yeah, i get the hype. the vocals are nothing short of enchanting and the production is genuinely so impeccable. some of the songs fall a little flatter than others, but "mercurial world", "you lose!", and "the beginning" are insaaane. probably some of the best modern synthpop around, though i don't know enough about the intricacies of the genre to say that for sure. regardless, it was nothing short of a treat for me listen through and i finally get why people have ... read more

a lot of people seem to think that the understanding is among royksopp's weakest but i adored it. i've not completed my full royksopp listen to but this was a really enjoyable album, bar a few misses. even still, all the misses are made up for by the presence of "dead to the world" which is genuinely one of the most gorgeous songs i've ever listened to.
