Very beautiful
Better than I expected
These guys are the goats
There’s my haiku of the day smash like if you enjoyed
This one really hurts to give such a low score, I was incredibly excited to listen to this.

The first side was nothing too special, but it was still an enjoyable experience with some really great energy. The progression is smooth and DJ Tron's additions to the tape really shine on all sides, including this one. I spent most of this side in anticipation for the booming energy of the upcoming sides.

This is unfortunately where it peaked for me. I was still extremely ... read more
I love the beginning, especially the Justin Bieber and Slowdive remixes (is that the correct terminology?). However, after the halfway mark it sort of peters off. It didn't really have the "WOW" impact on me as it did for others, but it was pretty cool nonetheless.
This album sees a much larger deviation from their earlier work, focusing much more this time on ornamentation rather than tempo spamming (non-derogatory).
This album sounds like a wonderful journey through a beautiful landscape, I think of Celeste’s black goo with beautiful rainbow insides from chapter 2. The bass (and sometimes drums or synth) act as the tour guides through this journey, with the additional ornamentation acting as the beautiful rainbow insides that you can gawk at and ... read more
I’ve found myself revisiting Phylyps Trak a lot recently so I decided to seek out another Basic Channel album. I noticed Phylyps Trak was their first release, so I decided to listen to this since it comes next chronologically.
While lacking the truly exceptional nature of Phylyps Trak, Q 1.1 doesn’t deviate too far from their debut’s tried and true formula. With a heavy emphasis on texture and timbre (favorites of mine), and a distinct love for stacking multiple rhythms on ... read more
such a breathtaking album, Boris constantly creates some of the most incredible and beautiful guitar performances and this is no exception. this may be even better than the studio version, I miss the drone but the quality of this performance is so undeniable
Edit: I have been listening to this all friggin day and it is SO good the tension is perfect
I'm not sure I understand this album. It sounds alright, but what's with the concept? This isn't a Lolita-esque critique of pedophilia, it hardly paints pedophilia in a bad light at all. Gainsbourg was in a relationship with a woman 20 years younger than him when he made this, and he has a history of sexual deviency and overall fishy conduct. So... it's just an album glorifying pedophilia? I had felt I was missing something, so I did some very light research and didn't ... read more
The diverse and numerous textures used justify the 20-minute run time and make it easy to sit through. While some may be off put by some of the stronger textures (ex. vertical bowing), I found it to be a satisfying way to diversify, and it was thankfully used properly. Pretty great for a one-take improvisation
I have been listening to this almost exclusively since it came out and I'm genuinely stunned at how good it is. This is easily one of, if not their best studio albums aside from LYSF. In the same way that Yanqui U.X.O. felt like the grandiose culmination of the pre-break work, this feels like that for their post-break work. This sounds like G_d's Pee on steroids. It's clear that the sound they've been going for, and the admittedly sloppy works it produced, has come to its ... read more
Unbelievably underrated! Some of the best tension I've ever heard in post-rock, with the release of the tension being a whole different beast. One of the only albums I can easily listen to all day long.
Very similar to GY!BE, not exactly sonically (this is more drone-y and calm), but more so with the field recording subjects and seemingly similar political messaging. The packaging is even a little similar!
Musically, this album's highs are inconsistent and it drags on a little.
In my opinion, The Beatles were always better at making songs than albums. I absolutely adore The Beatles, they're by far one of my favorite bands, and 99% of their songs are absolutely amazing. But to me, they have always been a band that has a few songs on each album that really stand above the rest. On Let It Be there is: Across the Universe, I Me Mine, and the Long and Winding Road. On Help! there is: Help!, Ticket to Ride, I've Just Seen a Face, and Yesterday. All of their albums ... read more
