This is horrible but pretty awesome for its backstory and role in the band's history. So glad they went the post-rock route and not underdeveloped eerie and dark experimental rock route

This would be the greatest political album of all time but Chuck D just HAD to mention Farrakhan

This album feels like a great example of collective bias for some artists which is something I've really wanted to talk about.

Beginning with what I usually see the most praise for, the writing. The writing on this album is not necessarily terrible, but it fails to separate itself from such an over-bloated industry. I was under the impression that this album would critique the current culture around individualism and always putting yourself before others. Instead, Charli seemingly ... read more

I Ain’t tha 1 is maybe the worst song of any acclaimed hip-hop album except maybe De La Orgee or Drunk and Hot Girls

(Semi-outdated)

If you look at ratings you will notice I have the basic aoty/rym/mu taste. If you’re familiar with this taste you are probably also aware that Swans is a band that those sites love to love. Everyone like me seems to adore this band with their entire heart, so I decided I needed to check them out.

Months ago, I listened to Soundtracks for the Blind. To put it lightly, I did not like the album at all. However, I realize that Swans is a very inaccessible band and most ... read more

"the 2011 version and 2018 version are almost two different stories entirely. will toledo recorded this version when he was 19 and still very much going through the pain, the lyrics and line delivery reflect this. 2018 completely recontextualized the album to be more forgiving, respectful, and retrospective, as it came at a different point in his life. not saying either is better, just giving a reason as to why someone might prefer this version"

"absolutely fire review, the passion is so infectious. i really think you'd like the early demo version of famous prophets if you haven't heard it already. its only a minute long but oh my god it makes me sob every time, its so beautiful, especially "the ocean washed..." part https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PZ-5zHcFVp8"

"twin fantasy has been my favorite album for over two years and my most listened to album, ever, and you just blew my mind with your explanation of the shift in tone that starts in bodys. i literally never noticed that and now ill never be able to un-notice it. i also somehow never knew that hojin stella jung did artwork for csh thats so awesome. you would be a great professional art/music reviewer if you ever choose to pursue that, its clear you put a lot of thought and effort into understanding this album and articulating feelings/analyses. excited for your mirror to mirror review if you end up writing one, especially your thoughts on the different monologue in the last track"

"this is such a good review bruh you would be a really, really good writer if you ever wanted to pursue that. the structure is so clever, your diction is insane, and you voice your feelings so well. also its relatable as hell and an absolute truth nuke"
On xilothephone's review of Car Seat Headrest - Twin Fantasy (Face to Face)
"This is the part of the song where Will gives up. He dissociates himself from his own romance until it becomes just a fantasy. This is not something that could happen to him; This is something that takes place only in his mind. But he blinks now, and shakes himself awake. He has rejoined society. Come, dear children, call no more. He has only lyrics now"
On xilothephone's review of Car Seat Headrest - Twin Fantasy (Face to Face)
"this is SUCH a good review its a shame this went underappreciated. you mentioned pretty much everything i love about this album. i really like how you mentioned the closure of this album, i dont think enough people mention it. curious as to how you feel about the ending monologue on the mirror to mirror version of twin fantasy (those boys). i think that version provides much better closure, its probably my favorite moment in music. ill post the monologue if you'd rather read it"
On Felloci's review of Car Seat Headrest - Twin Fantasy (Face to Face)
"i dont really understand what you mean by the lyrics lacking a musical element though is it like, the lyrics dont really mesh with the music, like its poetry just set to music rather than combined with music? if so, then thats definitely a fair critique - csh is by far my favorite band but there are certainly some songs that come across that way"
On Felloci's review of Car Seat Headrest - Twin Fantasy (Face to Face)
"this is a great review and i definitely agree that it does seem like music that is more poetry-based than music-based. Its undeniable that these songs are quite simple - ive learned most of these songs on guitar and theyre usually simple barre/cowboy chords. yet, at least to me, all of these songs are vastly interesting and far from basic. will is able to create complex and interesting songs out of the most basic structures and i think thats a really impressive feat, and it really adds to the DIY value the album has (especially since he originally played all of the instruments himself - perhaps why he kept it so basic). i can see how the formula may be disappointing, though, especially if you prefer complexity."
