This is the 3rd sepultura album I’ve listened to and it disappointed me. I saw nu metal and groove metal as the main genres and thought, “yep that’s a bit of me”. I actually don’t know what the singer actually sounds like not screaming and that’s a bad thing for me. It is soooo screamy that (and I’ve said this in multiple metal reviews) it actually hurts my head and I don’t even have it mega loud. I don’t even really get much nu metal out of ... read more
Listened to the beastie boys a year ago and found them boring and repetitive and I’ve found a love for there style and I’ve embraced the repetitive-ness of the sound. It’s influential, it’s cool, and it’s a fucking vibe.
Not the most consistent of bands lol. They have some amazing anthems but a few misses but I don’t think they really care. If it sounds good to them and they had fun making it then it’s on the album.
Only band that can have stinkers in ... read more
Loved “it’s been awhile” for awhile 😉 so I thought you know what fuck aoty ratings imma listen to the album. I will never understand post-grunge and nu-metal hate on this fucking website like look at them critic reviews bro, ig because it’s hyper-commercial and music for teenagers in the 00s with boring taste, but I fucking love it I think everyone should get loose and accept the genre for what it is and what it is, is fucking badass.
Really happy that they ... read more
I’m mustaining it
I wouldn’t have liked megadeth abt 3 months ago but I’ve grown to appreciate thrash metal and I can see that right now I do like a lot of the genre other than the basic stuff. I’ve also grown to not mind Dave’s vocals that much, they’re bad but I can’t imagine another voice for the band. This album though is what I expected, about the same of entertainment as rust in peace. It’s got some killer riffs as always and I think ... read more
First half rating (75). No I don’t have a small attention span I just wanted to goon mid way through so I’m just gonna pause it halfway and continue it later sometime. They’ve clearly found a template that works for this album. A lot of the songs sound similar to the hit single (which I love btw) which can be annoying and repetitive but I’m not complaining.
Second half rating (55). Significantly weaker second half here idk if it’s because it been a whole 48 hours ... read more
Re-rate (+8) I would’ve loved this if the songs were shorter. I don’t mind a bit of repetitive playing but it gets to a point. I think the guitar on this album are so good. I am not fucking with Dave’s vocals I’ve grown to….tolerate it but it’s still quite bad. Overall the album was a lot better than when I last listened to it. I also appreciate it a lot more, I didn’t recognise its impact when I initially listened to it.
Rage against the machines first record was a right punch too the government and the ears. The album slowly declines in power as you listen through but the first few songs are peak ratm after that it gets a little more predictable and boring. Still a great album that served its purpose then and is serving its purpose today.
Although I don’t think it’s there best album I think that goes to “outlandos d’amour”. I said to garruht that I think the first half of outlandos alone beats this album and he agreed but to him the last half dragged it down. I don’t think this is as good personally because them songs on “outlandos d’amour” make me come back to the album, ghost in the machine doesn’t have that to me. I don’t have a favourite song all the songs are ... read more
I think it’s a cool side project for Maynard but it lacks a significant amount of replayability for me. Songs are alright and not bad but that’s about it I wasn’t entertained. I don’t have many points as to why it wasn’t great apart from I was bored. I liked “the hollow” that was a cool opener
I don’t really see a problem with the vocalist I think he’s a good metal singer but I’m just not a fan of this heavy of music so hence the score. I think it’s a good farewell ep and it didn’t need to be an album imo ik some people complain it’s only 4 songs. I did like “beyond the dream” that’s a good ballad song
Pretty big album for the foos as it’s there fist album since Taylor Hawkins death. It has a lot more punk energy than I expected idk if I like it but it’s sure different. Some songs on here though are some rough listens but most I don’t think are bad they’re just bland. People don’t like this band though so I think a lot….most people went into the album already hating it, I went into it clean slate. It just felt like one big song there was very little if not ... read more
Convenient that when I enjoy one of there albums they drop one lol. Musically this is nice and not bad at all, replayability though is very low here. It’s what I expected which isn’t good nor bad but definitely makes it a bit boring. This album definitely Didn’t lack in variability though there was a lot of very unique and different songs which was nice. I think they were all equally as good as eachother there wasn’t any bad songs there were all just pretty good
Everytime I’ve tried to listen to this album something has prevented me, whether that’s Joe bartolozzi going live, my tea being ready or realizing I have homework due the next day there’s always an obstacle with this album. Anyway finally got to it today for the 4th time.
I listened to this over a year ago before I got into what I knew I liked in music so listening to albums I wasn’t the best at i wouldn’t properly listen to albums, now I’m a lot better I ... read more
I’m not a fan of really anything coming out of today’s music but there’s something here that really excites me in a weird way. I hope this can motivate some boring indie bands to maybe explore some weird riffs are styles because that’s what we need today someone or in this case someTHING (coz these guys aren’t human) that changes up the landscape of contemporary music.
It’s also cool how this sound reaches so many people because of the lack of lyrics like ... read more
This is such a far reach for me like I shouldn’t enjoy this but I can’t help myself I really like it. They look funny sound funny and are just so in tune with eachother. After watching that live performance they did I can’t help but feel excited and interested by them as a whole.
I really like the approach they took to this. They had a big *** to do when going into this because there two previous albums were Badmotorfinger and a masterclass in superknown. You can tell they carried what they learned in superunknown into this with the unique instruments and more experimental sound. It’s a great twist on grunge to have more obscure instruments outside the standard 3 and I think soundgarden do that the best in the grunge genre.
I think “blow up the outside ... read more
I’ve heard good things from this band and album. I’ve previously listened to “make yourself” and I wasn’t too impressed at the time I will re-listen to it.
I do like this band I think they’re very versatile in terms of there ability to go from an acoustic poetic song to a powerful alt rock song right after eachother. I do think though unfortunately that them acoustic songs can lack entertainment for me such as in “echo”.
There’s not much ... read more
This is by far there best funk album. In Californication they took a more pop oriented approach almost ditching there deep funk elements as seen in this album. For me though this is just far too long. I would’ve loved a 40-50 minute album of this that would’ve been way easier to digest. The funk songs on here though are amazing and the best you’re going to get from this genre.
