Earnest and tender and emotional, like your friend that laughs easily, like a really weak drink, like lingering for hours after an event to talk about your life.
Ultimately i wish something called Planet Frog was a bit freakier and swampier, but Action Bronson delivered his most laid-back, consistent, and smooth project yet.
an almost flawless little pop album, Genghis Khan is the breakout, but almost every other song matches its quality. It's hopeful, nostalgic 10 years later, heartfelt, and silly.
My second ever full Mountain Goats album that I decided to listen to becuse I had an affection for Hostages and Training Montage. If you're looking for music to occupy your mind, this is it. If you're looking for music that rocks pretty fucking decent, this is also it. The action-focused vignettes sold the songs, and the instrumentals kept being fresh, varied, hooky, and interesting. Favorites: Need More Bandages, Hostages, Wage Wars Get Rich Die Handsome, Make You Suffer, Training ... read more
It's not as fleshed out as Fountain Baby, but it has a pretty decent crop of songs that are fun to listen to.
I saw this describes as "countrygaze" which really piqued my interest. The whole album is a pleasant and interesting sort of vibe, but the songs don't stand out from each other or offer a lot in terms of being interesting beyond said vibe.
An electric little debut with smooth, catchy melodies and a euphoric feel to it. Music to touch grass to. Favorites; Point of No Return, People Make The World Go Round, You Are Everything
heartfelt, lively, the first album to really grip my attention and have me really want to stay with it in a long time
This is an absolutely crazy album from R&B singer Lloyd. Even the intro track is catchy, most tracks have a good progression and many of them are catchy and infinitely replayable. You ft. Lil Wayne is obviously a legendary song, but the rest of the album lives up to it. Lloyd pulls off the whole singing-in-the-rain lover man rnb thing flawlessly.
I watched to movie when I felt sick from having my blood drawn because I knew Audrey Nuna and Rei Ami were involved, so I figured the music should be decent. Then I was thoroughly disappointed that the music was at best boring and at worst grating, but it's for a kids' movie so whatever, right? Then I saw people online gassing the soundtrack up like it was actually something. y'all know I'm not a hater, I want to like everything I listen to, but the disappointment is real ... read more
y'all are underrating this honestly. Before this, I'd only heard "why did I laugh anyway" from Dev which was good, but didn't sound like this at all. She came through with some good alt-pop that makes me want to keep up with what she'd going to do next.
Mariah's voice is amazing as always, and Kali Uchis comes in with a very good feature
Vanisher, Horizon Scraper lived up to the hype. The concept on this one is a bit looser than the really tight ghost story in IDMTHY, vague nautical themes tie in with a relationship coming to a close, aging and dying, and not only confronting difficult feelings, but learning to live with them through the conceptual lens of being chased/threatened at sea in songs like THE GREAT BAKUNAWA and NATURAL CAUSES.
The album intensifies as it progresses, starting off with the more indie/folktronica ... read more
maybe it's because i am neither black nor british, but i can't see anything particularly groundbreaking with this tape. it's still good, and i like Jim Legxacy's fusion of rap, Afrobeats, and electronic music. he has a good ear for hooks and there's a few standout tracks, like d.b.a.b.
The mixing isn't all there, but iAMLYRIC is effortlessly cool and writes a catchy song
Right after listening to the album, I felt sightly disoriented in the way only good art can make you slightly disoriented. Let God Sort Em Out is intense, sometimes scary, sometimes emotional, always an all gas no brakes trip.
I want to talk about the order of the first four songs real quick. The Birds Don't Sing, the album opener, is an emotional song where the normally somewhat distant rappers involved speak with shocking directness about the loss of their parents. They mentioned the ... read more
Vibey production, interesting, fun. I don't fully get the hype, but this is an enjoyable album.
