Very entrenched in its own sonic palette, Revengeseekerz finds a schtick and sticks with it. It took me some time to develop an ear for it despite me listening to a lot of rage music, but once i did it was pretty obvious how well crafted these songs are. I loved the hard-hitting moments of JRJRJR, Dreamflasher, and the buildup and payoff of TURN UP OR DIE.
I went into this with pretty good expectations, and was surprised by how impressively bland it it. Welcome To My Blue Sky has a very generic "soft rock" sound that isn't endearing at all and cover cliche subjects- being young and falling in love- with even more cliche lines like "staying up talking till 3AM." This album is more sanitized than the recent pop stars that genuinely got their start on the Disney channel.
I had a really fun time listening to the EP for the first time with a friend on a day trip, which is the best way to experience it. It's a fun, summery, and hopeful bit of indie rock.
While not as catchy or as mk.gee's following project Two Star and the Dream Police, Museum of Contradiction is a solidly well-crafted album. This effort is very ambient overall, and shows influences, like Tame Impala and Thundercat, pretty clearly in some parts. Favorites- cz, Western, Isn't It So Convenient
Vanisher (and Quadeca's career) have a crazy amount of hype right now, and GODSTAINED is keeping it going. It's a floaty, ethereal first single that takes its time to build up, featured beautiful instrumentation, and leans heavier onto the "folk" side of Quadeca's take on folktronica.
Solid jangle-rock that drags on slightly in the first half, but picks up heavily in the second half.
Are y'all kidding? Armani white a very nice little pop rap song with all the right sorts of larger-than-life confidence.
Author and speaker Elizabeth Gilbert believes that art is metaphysically real, as a kind of magic, a product of a collaboration between creation and creator where the creator is the art.
I have never been of that opinion, but if there was something to convince me of it it would be The New Abnormal. All of these songs seem classic and timeless, in that they've always existed and always will continue to on some spiritual level. The Strokes and the many people that helped this album be put ... read more
This album could not have come out at a worse time in Carti’s reputation. Public opinion of him is at a low following his physical assault allegations, but his intense fandom could probably forgive all that if the music was just there. The past five years, MUSIC hasn't, and pushback after pushback means there's less demand for this guy's art than ever. Overall, it would be a very satisfying time for a Carti downfall.
Unfortunately, this album is very good, and is ... read more
I want to like her stuff, I really do, but her voice is insufferable. I tried to get into her catalogue and at first I didn't know how to feel about it, but now I know I feel bad. I'm sure she works hard, I really am, but her voice is bad to listen to.
