Rocky continues his great singles run, and J.Cole gets in his technical rap bag
sorry to The People who rated the second half of the album lower than the first, The Dare made it for me i guess!!!
I listened to the album because of the Dylan Brady production credit, and got what I came for even on the songs Dylan had nothing to do with; campy, fun dance music. The Dare has a lot of personality and writes very tongue-in-cheek and current songs. What's Wrong With New York? isn't his artistic zenith by any means, but it's a solid start.
I'm not well versed in noise rock, so that's the perspective I'm approaching this with.
I really liked this album. It starts out by hitting you with something heavy and doing so very well, then introduces the banjo folk sound. The result is a wide range of sound and vaguely uneasy emotional palette crammed into just over 30 minutes. It's not an "easy listen" in a background music type of way, but it's an "easy listen" in that I want to hear the ... read more
The bloated tracklist on this really, really, drags it down. A bit better track selection and Big Sean could have made a much, much better album. There's a good range of light bangers like Certified, more introspective songs like Black Void, and songs that sound good while telling us a lot about Big Sean like Typecast, my personal favorite. And then every third song is mid, or has weird bars, or I couldn't hum the melody of it if my life depended on it. I'm walking away with an ... read more
how pissed off is 40...... the beat is good on its own but drake's voice is not mixed well with it.
Yeah this is more desperation music from Drake. The hook is catchy, him whisper-yelling "no face, no face, no face" does hit and he's rapping like he gives a shit. I can see why the Carti "feature" was dropped, he wasn't adding anything to the song. The bars about "they won't say shit to my face" do make total sense with where his career's ... read more
She's got a great voice and great taste in production. I love Take A Bite genuinely, other songs like One Time and A Cruel Affair were pretty good too. So what's the problem? Her songwriting's very, very hit-or-miss. She's not always good at the storytelling part of making music, and she starts failing enough for her music to be grating sitting though a whole album. With the exceptions of Tie My Shoes, Girl Song, and TMWLTS, the songs I didn't enjoy would be decent ... read more
I listened to this album months ago, and didn't know what to rate it. I kept listening to the album, and didn't know what to rate it. The album made it onto my main playlist, my "music I'll put on around my friends" playlist, I kept hearing it, and I didn't know what to rate it. I came up with a number that sounds about right, but that's a lot less important than the impression the album leaves you with. It's not perfect (and definitely picks up in the ... read more
This ep proves why umru is such a hyperpop superproducer. Each track stands out with energy and great production, and he enlists the help of some of the genre's best such as Tony Velour and Ravenna Golden. A must listen, honestly.
I can't say I fully get it yet. But I want to keep listening to see if I do, which is valuable on its own.
one of the albums of all time. rxknephew is entertaining as he talks his shit for 30 minutes.
Found this in....my own Spotify Liked songs on shuffle? No memory of this song but it's an entire vibe
I listened to Go-Getters when it first came out and didn't rate it because I hadn't fully made my mind up about Mori, being familiar only with her ZUTOMAYO feature (pretty decent) and her worst moments (like calling lean a ''new-age word'' on twitter and some genuinely terrible bars).
Maybe the whole album got me really used to Mori, but it's more likely that something just clicked. The first song was somehow nostalgic stadium rock, and as the alum keeps ... read more
amaarae is allergic to missing
Glossy and fun, especially towards the beginning, but one-note in its content which wears you down somewhat. Would have been way better if she cut two or three songs or just released a bunch of singles
shut up shut up shut up. this bitch has more variants than covid
Listening to this album feels like coming home. Calming as it's emotional, it holds your full attention. Ravyn Lenae sings like singing is her favorite thing in the world, and the warm production brings everything together.
