HIT ME HARD AND SOFT, though a bit derivative of her previous work, is an incredible step up from Happier Than Ever, and sees the O'Connell's pushing their usual forlorn and airy-electro pop sound to its limit. Whereas HTE sounded scattered and unsure of itself, HMHAS sounds fully realized and meticulously crafted as every instrument breathes life: like little sea creatures emerging from the deepest and darkest waters. Amazing album. :)
aside from actually killing drake (rest in peace btw), it's also just a really good song.
Listening to this album feels like a day at the park with close friends: silly, wacky, introspective, and most importantly, reeaaaalllllyyyyyy really reaalllyyy fun. This album is so fun I forgor how tacky and polarizing some of the production choices are, but they all somehow work in Teezo's benefit. It's a few inconsistencies away from being perfect, I kind of wish all the highlights were released as an EP instead of a full album but still.
