If I was rating this album 6 months ago, I probably would've put it as a 60 or something, I just didn't like it. The vocals are whiny and sometimes just bad, the songs are weird, but these things combined with the actual songwriting make this album so so so so so fucking special. This album GROWS on people, not just me but my friends and other people who I've told about this album. Once it does grow it's something special.
only song I don't like it Sodium Chloride. the title track really sets the mood and is just really good. Stabilisers For Big Boys is a "bop" as the children say. Laputa is good. The Eyes of Ibad puts me into a trance. CUT has a fucking awesome drop holy shit that synth could have my children. Kicking Cars is an excellent album closer.
Shine On You Crazy Diamond, Pts. 1-5 is arguably one of the greatest songs of all time.

This album is very very solid. easily one of the best pop psych albums of its time.
also the Australia jam is nutty I love it
Who Are the Brain Police is a surprisingly heavy song for the time. I love a bunch of the other songs but that's all I really wanted to point out right now. Im tired.
I didn't get it, now I do. Organ Farmer is weak though tbh.
This album is almost perfect in my opinion. from my point of view, this album is split into 4 parts, Crumbling Castle, Polygondwanaland suite, Innercell suite, and the Tetrachromacy suite. of all these sections the polygondwanaland suite, consisting of Polygondwanaland, the castle in the air, and deserted dunes, is easily the weakest. Castle in the air is just so BORING in sorry. it is made up for by the rest of the album though.
The Tale of The Altered Beast: :)
The Lord of Lightning vs Balrog: :|
Han-Tyumi and The Murder of The Universe: :D
good album. Infinite Rise is kind of boring, but the rest are great. Lonely Steel Sheet Flyer is underated by the way.
This one's difficult, the extended version is kind of long and boring, but the shortened mix is too fast and barely gives you time to breathe, only being about 20 minutes. I love the shortened versions of Theia, The Silver Cord, and Set and I also love the extended versions of Gilgamesh, Swan Song, and Extinction but everything else is kind of just... eh.
Insatiable energy and wonderful concept that is well executed.
I got into Bowie about 4 years too late, however, he was my first true musical experience. The first real album I listened to in full and remembered was Ziggy Stardust and it made me the musician I am today. since, I was behind on Bowie, I chose to listen to his essential albums first (none of what people consider to be the crap) and then listen to Blackstar finally. This album is Bowie coming to grips with his own mortality, and his soon coming death. This album opened my mind and made me ... read more
