Peggy just kinda grew off of me as an artist and I think this album especially is super inconsistent
IM NOT A BIG FAN OF THE GOVERNMENT ahh music
Jokes aside, London Calling was a surprisingly fun album for me, being someone who hasn't listened to real punk before. I enjoyed how simple and fun a lot of the songs are, and how the band's sound isn't super complicated but is still really enjoyable. The main standout tracks for me were Koka Kola, Spanish Bombs, and Hateful. There weren't many that I would say I didn't like but some of the stuff near the middle and second ... read more
Pretty great album, I'm not crazy about necessarily every single song though. Revolver starts off with 3 straight bangers, them being Taxman, Eleanor Rigby, and I'm Only Sleeping. Here, There, and Everywhere is pretty good, but I'm not a huuuuuge fan of Good Day Sunshine. However, Doctor Robert-Tomorrow Never Knows is a pretty generational run though. Overall this album's cool but I think it's a bit overrated and it kinda grew off of me
Written as I listened:
In - lowkey disturbing and uncomfortable, great start
I Am the Sun - HOOOOOLY this is FIRE, its actually a vibe and really cool atmospheric song with a lot of hard hitting instruments going all at once and a really catchy melody
She Lives!: Ok so we start off super ominous and with kind of an uneasy feeling to the song, it gains some repetition with the “you’re alive, you’re alive” section and introduces some other guitars and instrumentation, ... read more
If this was a full length album....
So SWEET SPINE is a band I just randomly discovered and instantly loved because of their moody sound with those lit metal riffs thrown in. BREAK//NECK is a very short but rewarding album that shows all the different things this band can do, and how much potential they have as a group. SWEET SPINE's sound is a fusion of modern alt metal and this moody style that I can't really describe, but it's just peak. Definitely would recommend and I look ... read more
I didn’t necessarily hate this album, there were 2 or 3 songs I really enjoyed but it all just sounds so similar for the most part. Like almost the whole album is just the same exact formula being used over and over and it’s not bad if you pick out one song and only listen to that, but when it’s 11 songs straight of almost the exact same mainstream pop sound I kinda was sick of it by the end
I gotta say, this is hands down my favorite album from Kevin. It’s his most psychedelic and really captures hazy, cloudy feel that I love about this style of music. I originally gave it a perfect score on first listen but after a couple relistens recently, I find it to be a little frontloaded and I feel like there are a few tracks near the end that drag on more than they should and take away from the feel of the album as a whole. That being said, the first 30 or so minutes of Innerspeaker ... read more
CHINO MY GOAT, YOU'VE DONE IT AGAIN!
Well, not really, since this album came out in 2014, but whatever since I listened to the other Crosses project first. These 2 dudes are absolute masters at making stuff that just doesn't get old to listen to. Songs like This Is a Trick, Thholyghst, Trophy, Frontiers, and Option have been heavy in my rotation even weeks after listening to this album
There's plenty of cool moments on this album but I feel like if they made every song half the length then they wouldn't have lost that much material. Not because it's super boring or anything, but because Inlet as an album has a lot of wasted space and unnecessary repetition that drags down the good parts of each song.
These people have a lot of potential, this is really impressive for being their debut EP
This is what I've been looking for for a long time in a jazz album. It's not just chaotic jazz instrumentals with rhythm but not melody, but instead there's a ton of catchy songs and a great fusion with house music that makes this open this wall a super unique and rewarding listen
I mean it's cooooool but like, would I listen again? nah probably not since FlyLo has cooler and more consistent stuff
beep boop tch tch ts ts
Cosmogramma is a really cool and forward-thinking album, it's pretty consistent and had a lot of cool and experimental effects throughout
I liked the first few minutes but this album quickly turned into a chore for me to finish listening to, it's just not really engaging and could've been like a 20 minute EP
I have a friend that's obsessed with this band so I really wanted to love this album going in but I found it repetitive and kinda basic. It's pretty much just your normal pop punk/emo
My head almost exploded multiple times listening to this album, and it was cool as hell. There literally isn't a single second of wasted space on this thing, it just starts and then proceeds to sonically assault your brain and hammer your ears with some of the most aggressive deathcore I've heard all year. Like seriously, the amount of craziness and outright metal chaos that they fit into 37 minutes is something to be admired
I had no idea at all what to expect going into wetdream, just that it was an 88 and the 7th highest of the decade so it had to be the best thing of all time. And yeah, that's kinda the case. It's peak indie noise pop with a dash of emo and I'm here for it all. dish rags, rosemary, the title track, lost in translation, revisited - I mean this album is just straight bangers front to back, no skips at all
