Care for Me by Saba is one of my favourite albums of all time. It’s only 10 songs, so it’s easy to listen to all the way through. Busy / Sirens, Calligraphy, Life, Prom / King, and Heaven All Around Me are all pretty much perfect songs in my opinion. So half of the songs on the album are 10s or close to it, which is impressive. Anyone who enjoys jazz‑rap should listen to this album. It is a masterpiece. The storytelling is perfect. It's touching, well‑written, and ... read more
$oul $old $eparately is a good Freddie Gibbs album,$oul $old $eparately is a good Freddie Gibbs album. I just don’t go back to it nearly as much as I do with some of his other projects. I’m not a big fan of the fact that a few songs sound a bit more “mainstream.” Overall, it’s a good album with good songs, but it’s not as concise, and to me Freddie works best when he’s locked in with a single producer.
If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late is a masterpiece by Drake and my second favourite album from him. It marks a real shift in his sound, and he executes it extremely well. He talks about the 6 (Toronto) more than ever here, and it’s fun because we see Drake stepping into his own identity more confidently than before.
The music is on another level too. The rapping is flawless, and the singing matches it. There are only two R&B tracks on here: Jungle, which is a ... read more
Dawn FM by The Weeknd is the second project from his latest trilogy and it's a good album. It's a very easy listen; it leans a lot more into pop than it does R&B. Personally, I prefer The Weeknd's darker songs, more R&B and a bit less upbeat. Most of the songs on here are really good, it's just not my style as much as some of his other albums. I love Less Than Zero, Gasoline, and the extended version of Take My Breath is amazing too. I don't like the songs with ... read more
It’s Almost Dry by Pusha T is a good album with some great songs. There are a few misses — the track with Don Toliver and Uzi has no reason to be on the tracklist, and I’m also not a fan of the one with Kid Cudi. Overall, it’s a solid project and I enjoy it. I love “Diet Coke,” “Brambleton,” “Let the Smokers Shine the Coupes,” and “Neck & Wrist.” The production from Kanye and Pharrell is really strong. It’s an ... read more
