Saba - CARE FOR ME
97

Care for Me by Saba is one of my favourite albums of all time. It’s only 10 songs, so it’s easy to listen to all the way through. Busy / Sirens, Calligraphy, Life, Prom / King, and Heaven All Around Me are all pretty much perfect songs in my opinion. So half of the songs on the album are 10s or close to it, which is impressive. Anyone who enjoys jazz‑rap should listen to this album. It is a masterpiece. The storytelling is perfect. It's touching, well‑written, and ... read more

Freddie Gibbs - $oul $old $eparately
68

$oul $old $eparately is a good Freddie Gibbs album,$oul $old $eparately is a good Freddie Gibbs album. I just don’t go back to it nearly as much as I do with some of his other projects. I’m not a big fan of the fact that a few songs sound a bit more “mainstream.” Overall, it’s a good album with good songs, but it’s not as concise, and to me Freddie works best when he’s locked in with a single producer.

Drake - If You're Reading This It's Too Late
100

If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late is a masterpiece by Drake and my second favourite album from him. It marks a real shift in his sound, and he executes it extremely well. He talks about the 6 (Toronto) more than ever here, and it’s fun because we see Drake stepping into his own identity more confidently than before.
The music is on another level too. The rapping is flawless, and the singing matches it. There are only two R&B tracks on here: Jungle, which is a ... read more

The Weeknd - Dawn FM
72

Dawn FM by The Weeknd is the second project from his latest trilogy and it's a good album. It's a very easy listen; it leans a lot more into pop than it does R&B. Personally, I prefer The Weeknd's darker songs, more R&B and a bit less upbeat. Most of the songs on here are really good, it's just not my style as much as some of his other albums. I love Less Than Zero, Gasoline, and the extended version of Take My Breath is amazing too. I don't like the songs with ... read more

Pusha T - It's Almost Dry
78

It’s Almost Dry by Pusha T is a good album with some great songs. There are a few misses — the track with Don Toliver and Uzi has no reason to be on the tracklist, and I’m also not a fan of the one with Kid Cudi. Overall, it’s a solid project and I enjoy it. I love “Diet Coke,” “Brambleton,” “Let the Smokers Shine the Coupes,” and “Neck & Wrist.” The production from Kanye and Pharrell is really strong. It’s an ... read more

Lil Baby - It's Only Me
15

It’s Only Me by Lil Baby is a bad album in my opinion. It’s way too bloated and has no real standouts. I won’t listen to it again in its entirety, that’s for sure.

Joey Bada$$ - 2000
81

2000 doesn’t reach the highs of Joey Bada$$’s legendary 1999 mixtape, but it’s still a very enjoyable project. I really like this album — it’s an easy front‑to‑back listen with only one real skip for me, “Welcome Back,” which is just a bad song. Other than that, I enjoy every track on here.
I love the boom‑bap and classic New York sound Joey brings. Warm production, sharp lyricism, and clean wordplay. There’s also a great guest verse from ... read more

Drake & 21 Savage - Her Loss
73

Her Loss is a fun album with a lot of tracks you can just vibe to. It’s essentially a Drake album with 21 Savage as a recurring feature — on most songs, Drake gets the most runtime and usually steals the show. The project doesn’t offer anything we haven’t heard from him before, but you can tell he was in his bag.
On tracks like “Rich Flex,” “Middle of the Ocean,” “Major Distribution,” and “BackOutsideBoyz,” you hear the ... read more

Denzel Curry - Melt My Eyez See Your Future
95

Melt My Eyez See Your Future by Denzel Curry is one of my favourite albums of all time. Denzel Curry proved that he's one of the best rappers of his generation with that project. The album is super personal, deep, and has amazing music. Songs like Melt Session #1, Mental, Angelz, and The Ills are super introspective and have perfect writing. I love the production all over the album, the mix of boom bap and more new age beats is super well executed. Walkin is a perfect song, same with Worst ... read more

JID - The Forever Story
94

The Forever Story by JID is a masterpiece. The album has pretty much everything going for it: amazing production, great features, and a perfect performance from JID all over the project. The family concept of The Forever Story is perfectly executed. Raydar is a masterpiece of a song. There are multiple beat switches with amazing flows from JID. Very few rappers could pull a song like that off. Dance Now is one of the catchiest songs on the album, with an amazing beat, a great feature, and a ... read more

Kendrick Lamar - Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers
91

As Kendrick says on the opener United in Grief, 1855 days after DAMN., Kendrick Lamar is back with a double album, Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers. The album is amazing in my eyes. It has a great concept, well executed, with incredible music.
Starting with United in Grief, the album grabs you right away. The lyrics are deep and personal, and the instrumental is very good too. It is followed by one of the biggest bangers on the album, N95, then by the weird, but weird in a good way, Worldwide ... read more

Brent Faiyaz - Icon
70

Brent Faiyaz's Icon is much different from his other projects. This one is a lot brighter and not as toxic as his other albums. It's a nice shift. He has a nice voice. A lot of the songs sound similar, but the album is fun to listen to from begining to end, especially while studying or while relaxing. Good album with good vocals. I will revisit it for sure.

Logic - College Park
54

College Park by Logic has a nice and nostalgic narrative. The skits get annoying, and I feel like they should have been placed in between songs to improve the replay value of certain tracks. It is a good album, but I did not replay it a lot. The ideas are great, but the execution is lacking a lot of the time. Logic is a great rapper with good wordplay, but he sometimes goes in a cringy direction with his lyrics. Overall, it is a good album, but it could have been a lot better if it had been ... read more

Earl Sweatshirt & The Alchemist - VOIR DIRE [Streaming Version]
45

Voir Dire by Earl Sweatshirt and The Alchemist is super well produced. I do not find myself liking the album that much. It is enjoyable, but even though the album is short, it still feels like it drags. I am not a fan of Earl, primarily because of his voice, tone, and flow, but I usually like the beats he raps over. He has some nice wordplay, but that does not make the album more appealing to me. It is mostly personnal preference, not my style.
Songs like Heat Check and Sirius Blac are really ... read more

Westside Gunn - And Then You Pray For Me
40

And Then You Pray for Me by Westside Gunn is an okay sequel to his far superior 2020 predecessor, Pray for Paris. There are some good songs on here with strong collaborations with JID, Conway the Machine, and Benny the Butcher. It is way too long for my liking. The album is well produced and has some nice qualities, but I get tired of the sound pretty quickly, so it is hard for me to give it a higher score. Not much else to say, Westside Gunn is a good curator.

Gunna - a Gift & a Curse
25

Gunna’s A Gift & A Curse has two good songs, but no replay value for me. I will never listen to it from front to back. There are some okay songs and some bad ones, and they all sound pretty much the same. The flows are super repetitive, and it gets old really quickly. It is a bad album, but still better than Young Thug’s Business Is Business.

Young Thug - BUSINESS IS BUSINESS
20

Business Is Business by Young Thug is bad. The only songs I revisited were the ones with Drake, and he carried them. I do not think there is any redeeming quality to the project. No hate to Young Thug, who has made good music in the past, but this album is just not enjoyable to me at all.

Travis Scott - UTOPIA
70

Utopia by Travis Scott is good, but it still does not reach the highs of Rodeo in my opinion. I like the world‑building on the album. Years removed from the release, I realise there was not a whole lot of replay value for me. I have some skips on Utopia. I know it is a hot take, but I do not really enjoy Modern Jam, God’s Country, Delresto, Topia Twins, Circus Maximus, and Parasail. A lot of songs are just okay to me without being skips, but I would not listen to them outside the album ... read more

KAYTRAMINÉ - KAYTRAMINÉ
81

Kaytraminé by Aminé and Kaytranada is simply fun. It is the definition of a summer album. The first four tracks, Who He Iz, letstalkaboutit, 4EVA, and Westside, really put you in a summer mood. They are very good and super catchy. I love the production throughout the project, and the features vary from good to great.
There is only one skip on the album for me, and the song is not awful either, it just is not as good as the rest of the album. That song is STFU3. Other than that, ... read more

Drake - For All The Dogs
55

For All the Dogs really is a mixed bag. There are some excellent Drake songs on here, and a lot of okay or bad ones too. I’m a big Drake fan, so I probably saved more songs from this album than most people, but I never listen to it in its entirety.
Songs I never replay are “Amen,” “Calling For You,” “Bahamas Promises,” “7969 Santa,” “BBL Love,” “Gently,” and “Rich Baby Daddy.” That last one has some good ... read more
