after seeing the general conscious of this album, i was actually dreading listening to it. however, i was pleasantly surprised by about half of the tracklist. a lot of just great pop tracks mixed with some mediocre pop tracks. this album wasn't really consistent, which was my biggest issue. but overall, fun to listen to and not take seriously.
instant serotonin across 10 tracks that flow nicely and really capture jessie ware's unique charisma. this is for sure a great follow up to "what's your pleasure?".
a beautiful collection of brilliant songwriting and gorgeous harmonies, this trio has done it again!
Did you know that there hasn't been a good Lana Del Rey album since Norman Fucking Rockwell? Oh, and there's also a tunnel under Ocean Blvd.
if you wanted to encapsulate 80s pop into an album; i'm sure madonnas self-titled record is a good contender! slick pop hooks and synths infect whatever listener happens upon this album and half of these songs will be stuck in your head for the rest of the day, week, month, year, or even eternity. this is truly such an amazing start to what we now know to be one of, if not the most iconic music career of all time. this clearly is just the start to a pop legend emerging onto the scene.
a beautiful pop album with interesting production and hooks that keep the listener engaged through the entierty of the album without a low spot once on the record. while this had a lengthy rollout, the wait was completely worth it.
is it generic? absolutely! is it a good pop album thats a fun listen throughout? absolutely x10! this was such a fun listen all the way through with a some perfectly crafted pop songs intertwined with some generic pop songs that would've been hits in 2019. nonetheless, this was so enjoyable to listen to and i truly don't care that its generic. generic can be fun, and ava max proves that. could a couple of tracks been cut? sure; but why not have 40 minutes straight of upbeat pop tracks?
the first album i've heard from the group; and i'm impressed! it's truly just a fun listen through, but the true standouts are the opening track and closing track, beautifully wrapping this album in a gorgeous little bow. this will probably get even better on re-listens, but for now, a very solid album.
definitely a great debut effort from her, especially when a lot only know her from "friday". however, i do think this suffers from what a lot of debuts suffer from; every track seems to remind me of another artist. which isn't always a bad thing, but when the album becomes redundant halfway through, there's an issue. all in all though, there isn't a terrible song on the record and i do believe her next works can greatly improve on the foundation laid in this album. i'm very excited to ... read more
shes never beating the boring aunt allegations i fear
edit: i was harsh with a 38, but it's still not very good, boring aunt.
solid album for her, but following "daydream" and "butterfly", it doesn't live up to the rest of her 90s work. there are plenty of highlights, "heartbreaker" and "crybaby" come to mind for those. but then a lot of the album falls flat; especially tracks like "did i do that?" and "after tonight". the latter sounding like a knock off "my all" trying to recapture something that cannot be replicated. but overall, a fine album ... read more
probably one of mariah's best, even with some tracks that people may call "filler". its a cohesive project perfectly showing her lyricism and vocal ability all in one beautiful package.
what pains me is that i truly enjoy individual tracks, but i get bored so easily with this album. jack antonoff is such a great producer, but for 13 songs straight it mashes into something so boring to listen to with little variety. i truly think this album had the potential to be one of her best, but falls flat with its monotone approach at cohesiveness.
such a strong debut, maybe one of my favorites of all time. strong songwriting with amazing production on songs like motion sickness and georgia. funeral is so gut-wrenching; i've never felt such sadness from a song like i did from funeral.
a very good album, but incredibly overhyped for what it really is in my opinion. i think its a solid disco album but doesn't live up to what some claim as the best pop album of 2020.
a bold and mature step-up from her previous works, red seems to be in a league of it's own for taylor swift if you think about her discography up to 2012. a perfect blend of what once was taylor swift and will soon to be taylor swift all mixed together into an album that takes heartbreak and puts it into masterful songwriting and production. max martin did what he does best on the pop heavy tracks off this album, and the country pop tunes still stay true to what taylor swift fans knew well up ... read more
a solid album from charli, but thats expected. only 2 songs id say that couldve been cut but this is a fun pop album that is always great to revisit
the potential was there and it shines in songs like as it was and matila, but some of it just fell flat for me. boyfriends and grapejuice come to mind as songs that held this record back from being a great album that i think harry has the potential of making. some lyrics on this album hit home and some miss the mark completely, which is why this album is so hit or miss. but overall i think there are more good tracks than bad and it is an enjoyable listen.
such a consistent album, the vibes are there and overall one of beyonce's best albums, if not her best! tracks like alien superstar and cuff it surely are career highlights. the only downside to this album personally is that some tracks towards the end seem to drag the album out, but overall definitely a SOLID album.
can't believe it took me over 2 years to listen to this for the first time. all i can say is wow this is truly one of my favorite albums on first listen, can't wait to get more time with it and truly appreciate it. i know the end is one of the greatest songs ive ever listened to
