Well... it's here
After 5 long years of waiting Kung Fu Kenny is finally back with the release of his fifth studio album "Mr Morale & The Big Steppers". To say the hype for this was high is a massive understatement. The past five years have been eventful to say the least from basically the whole Trump Presidency, the BLM movement to Russia's invasion of Ukraine and of course COVID, there's no book (however long) that could be written to describe everything that has happened the ... read more
It takes a while to get going but when it does wowzee does it slap
I probably won't be writing a review for this, but I mean wow what a record!
Thanks for being one of the most interesting and groundbreaking vocalists I've heard in a while Isaac. Hope life takes you some nice place :)
A perfect album to show how much you can do with so little. First of all, it really is crazy that this actually exists, being a collaboration between 25 year old electronic musician Floating Points, 85 year old jazz legend Pharoah Sanders and The London Symphony Orchestra. Some crazy alignment of the stars must have happened here but god am I thankful it did. I mentioned the two artists’ ages earlier not to make fun of them or anything, but to showcase how two people from completely ... read more
You ever see those playlists on Spotify called something like “viral hits” and the description is something like “internet bops to vibe to :sparkles:” in all lowercase? And I mean obviously it’s pretty cringe and how you do fellow kids-esque, but of you wanna talk about bands “born of the internet” then Magdalena Bay should 100% be one of them. Not only did they get big due to their pretty “interesting” presence on Tik Tok, the inspirations ... read more
The tuareg people, and berbers at large, are ones who’ve never really had a country to call their own. Largely due to their nomadic lifestyle and being sandwiched between Arabs to the north and the Yoruba and Hausa to south. Hell, even in Mdou Moctar’s home Niger they only make up about 11% of the population. As you can probably imagine this puts them in quite an unfavorable position, for decades they’ve suffered from oppression and resource exploitation in their lands. Since ... read more
Paul McCartney does a Radiohead impression for 46 minutes
This is kinda disappointing since Everyday Life really seemed like a step in a more interesting direction :/ Oh well at least Coloratura is nice
PS: I’m still working on stuff for my next artist dive
This is probably the most aptly titled album ever.
I feel like I have made it pretty apparent that I really like when music, and art overall has a cosmic, almost otherworldly feel to it. There’s just something about the unknown and infinite that really fascinates me. To be frank I’m sometimes even scared by the universe’s sheer size, if it’s not infinite, then what is it inside of, and if it is then how? What is infinity? When we measure and observe things we always ... read more
This album cover is so awfully dogshit bad it might be kinda good
Over the last couple of months I haven’t been doing too baller. It’s nothing really serious I’ve just sorta been feeling like shit a lot of the time (also why nothing has really happened with this page) and throughout that time Injury Reserve’s music has been pretty comforting to me. I don’t really know why because the trio from Arizona (Groggs, Parker and Ritchie) didn’t really make that type of music, but songs like “North Pole”, ... read more
Aoty incoming!
Both of these singles are just so amazing, like who else sounds like this?
