Music discovery has always been interesting to me. I don’t know if that makes me weird but learning about how people find music and why they listened is just fun. Having listened to more and more classics and checking off more and more albums from my “to-listen” list, I’ve recently found myself listening to the albums recommended to me by Spotify. That's exactly how I found Ghost’s 2004 LP “Hypnotic Underworld”

The Gizzoids have done it again.
I became a fan of King Gizz about a year ago and they became one of my favorite bands almost instantly. However the two projects they’ve released since were pretty disappointing. A continuation of their microtonal series, KG and LW were both alright but by the end of the second project I was already kinda tired of the sound and both projects weren’t nearly as good as their predecessor. With all that in mind my expectations were pretty mixed going ... read more
Black midi has been one of my favorite bands since I first listened to their debut in August of 2020. Schlagenheim was one of my first album reviews, I made it like half a year before I joined this place (that review was not good at all in hindsight lol). Anyway what I'm trying to say is that I was really looking forward to this LP, almost to the point where I was anxious to listen to this because I thought there was no way this could match my expectations.
So, did it deliver? Yeah, I think ... read more
I hate when females listen to radiohead They will never understand what its like to be a true social reject, a creep, a weirdo.they will never understand what its like to be Italian Nobody
If one more person tries to call an album or song "objectively good" or "objectively worse" I will find you and I'll slowly start peeling your skin off like a potato while hitting the nae nae. I will make sure it hurts so much you'll be begging me to kill you in a normal way but no; you deserve it asshole. Also this slaps.
When we last met our heroes they had just made their sophomore LP "Contemporary Movement" which was a move away from the heavy space themes of its predecessor and might've been even more depressing. Remember that? Yeah, that was 19 years ago, feel old yet? The band just stopped making music together. Never really planning to finish making music, still keeping in touch but I guess they just got bored or burnt out. Then suddenly they just decided to make stuff again. First releasing a ... read more
I put off writing this because of two reasons. 1) I took part in a running race, which took quite a lot of my time. Also the track there was literally purple like what’s up with that guys? And 2) I really struggled to exactly explain my thoughts on this one or even know if I have any but I’ll try to. I’m gonna preface my rambling by saying that this is definitely not as good as “Stratosphere”, so if you don’t get anything from my nonsense I hope you’ll ... read more
This new BrockHampton album didn't really do much for me. Outside of a few highlights, such as BUZZCUT, COUNT ON ME and THE LIGHT, most of this album does not make for a very memorable listen, however, it isn't bad by any standards
Hello and welcome to the second Discog Dive on this account. This dive's focus is Duster. Duster are an indie rock/slowcore band based in San Jose California. The band formed in 1996 as a collaboration between Clay Parton and Canaan Dove Amber, two multi instrumentalists, who were especially fascinated by space (which would become a pretty noticeable influence on the sound of their records). They recorded in a home studio, which is how they got their lo-fi sound. The first album on our journey ... read more
Another absolutely fantastic single from Black Midi. I'm really excited for Cavalcade.
I don't think any album fills me with as much joy as Mort Garson's 1976 LP "Mother Earth's Plantasia". Now, I'm no plant (arguably), but there's something here that just keeps me coming back.I can't exactly speak for plants but there's just something so wonderful about this album, from the beginning almost whistle-like intro to the out of this world sounds of “Music to Soothe the Savage Snake Plant”, this synth-only experience just keeps you content.
Here, let me paint a ... read more
Alex wanted to be part of The Strokes so much, he made a lounge pop sci-fi album.
I didn't really enjoy this at all on first listen. Frankly, how could have I? The Seer is one of the most terrifying albums I've ever heard and one that's not scared to make you uncomfortable. Yet, I couldn't stop listening. If I turned it off one day, I'd simply come back and start from the beginning the next day. For between the waves of anxiety and fear, there's something resembling beauty, something more.
I don't really know how it happened. I never usually get uncomfortable from ... read more
I was surprised by how much I liked this album, given that I wasn’t a huge fan of their previous LP “Luciferan Towers”. But really should have I? Was I really expecting that Godspeed! You Black Emperor, a band who’s whole music is pretty much a soundtrack for the apocalypse and a big “screw you!” to the world’s governments would not get inspired by a global pandemic, during which, most governments did everything except helping people?

I went into this LP expecting I'd dislike it so I was really surprised when I actually came out of this enjoying it a bit. Yeah it's no Victorialand or Treasure and definitely not Heaven or Las Vegas but I enjoyed it more than like 2 other Cocteau Twins records. It's definitely way less serious than other Twins records, but if you take it for what it is it's really not that bad. Although at times it feels like beach music and it's definitely formulaic at times I don't think I can say it's a ... read more
