The first half of this album is so strong. The guitar riffs and synths did a lot of the leg work. The lyrics were a wonderful love letter to friendship and new phases of life. I let this album sit with me for as long as it's been released and I tried to like this more than maybe it deserved. The writing was so mehhh and the music itself eventually just had a rinse and repeat quality to it, I think I blackedout around track 12/13 and then the last one had me perk my ears up again not even realizing time had gone by. I did have some tracks on there I thoroughly enjoyed, like yes goddd and old technology.
The features really do help this album, but a lot of the tracks seem half baked.
A bit bloated with there being so many features on this album. I think it may have taken away some of the quality of the record as a whole. It was fun listening through it but I’ll stick to some select songs on here and I could take or leave the rest.
Update: did a lot of relistening to prep for his concert I went to last night. Dude, it’s so much better than the intial listen. The mixing is so good and the beats were always choice. Score from 74-84
While the musical elements themselves weren't anything revolutionary for Hayley, the captivating lyrics kept me invested in each song. I know Hayley can go HARD and I just think I was expecting more of a punch like she does with the last track of the album, Parachute.
