Andy Shauf’s first album in four years has caught the attention of many, including me. I have been listening to it intermittently for the past couple of weeks and finally decided to review it because it is very good. The Neon Skyline tells the story about nights out with friends and getting back together with an ex, but Andy tells the story in a funny and unique way that makes the album. I had no idea who Cindy Lee, or Patrick Flegel, was and I had never heard of his previous band, Women, but I was intrigued by the reviews for this album. After the first two tracks I was already sold on it. The sound is unique, very lo-fi, and kind of unsettling, yet strangely soothing at the same time. This is consistent throughout the entire album. Outside of pretty much one track(Speaking from Above), there are very few dull moments.
