Jerkcurb - Air Con Eden

Night on Earth has become one of my favorite songs of all time, but outside of a few great tracks there is not much here. It seems to all blend together, and not in a good way. I hope he can expand his sound in the future because there is some real potential here. Also he is an artist and did the album art himself so check that out if you're interested.

The Buttertones - Jazzhound

The Buttertones are a band that not many people know, especially on this website, but I’ve been a fan for a couple years now. I discovered them on Spotify shortly after the release of Gravedigging and fell in love with their first two albums. Their vintage inspired surf rock sound isn’t anything new but they do it better than anyone I know out there right now and this new album backs that up even more.

After I was disappointed with their last release in 2018, I was very excited to ... read more

The Strokes - The New Abnormal

The album that I was most excited for this year, but I was equally nervous. The Strokes are one of my favorite bands and I've liked nearly everything they've put out (even Comedown Machine), but I knew that they would change their sound this time around and I was nervous about what the outcome would be. After listening to this nonstop for the past few days I have decided that I am far from disappointed.

After At the Door was released I knew it would be weird, but a weird that I would enjoy, ... read more

Andy Shauf - The Neon Skyline

Andy Shauf’s first album in four years has caught the attention of many, including me. I have been listening to it intermittently for the past couple of weeks and finally decided to review it because it is very good. The Neon Skyline tells the story about nights out with friends and getting back together with an ex, but Andy tells the story in a funny and unique way that makes the album. It is the best songwriting I have heard so far this year by a mile. While there is nothing out of the ... read more

Cindy Lee - What's Tonight to Eternity

I had no idea who Cindy Lee, or Patrick Flegel, was and I had never heard of his previous band, Women, but I was intrigued by the reviews for this album. After the first two tracks I was already sold on it. The sound is unique, very lo-fi, and kind of unsettling, yet strangely soothing at the same time. This is consistent throughout the entire album. Outside of pretty much one track(Speaking from Above), there are very few dull moments.
Overall this is the most unique and interesting album I ... read more
