REVIEWING EVERY SWANS / SWANS RELATED PROJECT WHILE I LISTEN TO ALL OF THEM
#11 Swans - White Light From The Mouth of Infinity (1991)
Genre: Gothic Rock, Neofolk.
THIS. SHIT. ROCKS.
Everything about it is awesome. Every single track is great. The album opens up with the intense "Better than You” which sets the mood up immediately that Swans have gained back their creative freedom. This track seamlessly transitions into the following “Power and Sacrifice” which kicks ... read more

#10 Swans - The Burning World (1989)
Genre: Neofolk, Gothic Folk, Gothic Rock
People hate on this way too much.
The label they were working with had hired a producer to help them record this album. However he had a bunch of pre planned tracks and the band hardly had any creative liberties. Which is probably why Michael Gira fucking HATES this album. I think it’s pretty good. Nothing too memorable but alright ... read more

#9 Swans - Feel Good Now (1988)
Genre: No Wave, Gothic Rock
The material on Children of God goes live! This live album is lowkey super interesting. When they were in the Eastern Europe, that area was still underneath the Eastern Bloc from the Soviet Union. Which in short means everything from the west was banned. Swans needed to wait outside various venues until the owners would leave, the people running the shows ... read more

#8 Swans - Children of God (1987)
Genre: Gothic Rock, Experimental Rock
Take everything you know about Swans so far and throw it out the window because WE ARE GOTHIC FOLLOWERS OF CHRIST IN THIS BITCH NOW. This record rules. Kicks serious ass. The step up this is from the last 2 studio albums is mind boggling. They have developed a completely new gothic sound which FUCKING RULES. Every single track is a banger. And ... read more

#7 Swans - Public Castration Is a Good Idea (1986)
Genre: No Wave, Industrial Rock, Noise Rock
Take Greed / Holy Money. And make it better!
This is a heavy, sludgy live album with the most awesome title and cover of all time (TRY TO FIND AN EMOJI FOR THIS LEAH). Basically every track is miles better than the original (except Fool). However the live version of Fool is a whole 9 minutes which I’m always down for ... read more

#6 Swans - Holy Money (1986)
Genre: No Wave, Industrial Rock, Noise Rock
Leah is gonna run out of money emojis because this is Greed’s sister album Holy Money. It’s basically just Greed, but make it slightly worse! Yeah it’s a little underwhelming. I have to say it’s more consistent than Greed. But consistently mediocre. And one of the songs, "Fool (# 2) , is JUST FOOL BUT WITH EXTRA ... read more

#5 Swans - Greed (1986)
Genre: No Wave, Industrial Rock, Noise Rock
OH MY GOD! DIFFERENT INSTRUMENTS! Greed is alright. Definitely a step up from the past two projects. I have a bit of a soft spot for it mostly because I love the opening track "Fool”. Just cant get enough of that piano. This record is also Jarboe’s introduction as a band member. She doesn’t add too much aside from a few ... read more

#4 Swans - Cop (1984)
Genre: No Wave, Noise Rock
…really? The follow-up album to Filth didn’t even try to overcome it. Most every track sounds like throwaways off Filth. Ts is lowkey ass also aside from a few standout tracks. I like Half Life a lot but apart from that. Eh
Fav Songs: Half Life, Cop, Job
40/100

#3 Swans - Young God EP (1984)
Genre: No Wave, Noise Rock
Okay yeah you lost me. This shit buns. It’s trying way too hard to be edgy and weird and the lyrics just genuinely suck actual ass. "I Crawled" is alright, except every live version of this track is SO MUCH BETTER than the studio version. Don’t even bother
Fav songs: I Crawled
30/100

#2 Swans - Filth (1982)
Genre: Noise Rock, No Wave
π¦· π¦· Swans’ debut album is nothing short of a good time. The album opens up with the heavy "Stay Here" which immediately puts you into the vibe of the album. It’s loud, it’s heavy, it’s repetitive and it fucking rules. In its entire runtime you’re witnessing a true bench mark in the New York underground music. While it ... read more

#1 Swans - Swans EP (1982)
Genre: No Wave, Post-Punk
Swans burst onto the New York underground No Wave scene with a funky/heavy and surprisingly jazzy debut EP. The EP opens up with "Laugh" an absolute fucking banger with insane guitar sounds from Norman Westberg. Michael Gira’s vocals are way softer on this EP compared to the stuff that preceded it which is really nice because in that era he was ... read more
IDM Project "Fort Hence" releases their first record "Unalaska is Upon Us” and it’s nothing short of a good time.
It’s thrown together the same way records like "Selected Ambient Works" by Aphex Twin, just a jumbled collection of BEEPS and BOOPS put together into a really consistent project.
The inspirations for this record are however really obvious. (Aphex Twin, BOC, Arca). Some of the songs feel like remixes or B-Side versions of songs I already ... read more

The One Percent is a great example of hilarious teenage internet humour. However it lacks much musical talent
The opening first few tracks are some of the most obnoxious pieces of music I have heard. Not to mention the INSANELY long LUCAS DISS, coming in at a whopping 5:20 minutes (if you ask me Lucas definitely won the battle). However some of the songs are really enjoyable. Sadly, most of them are made with AI. Cat Dictionary should learn from the AI and make something enjoyable to listen ... read more
