Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - Wild God

My first exposure to Nick Cave, and I'm surprised I haven't really heard of him before. His unique voice really adds a much-needed punch to these otherwise clean and orchestral tracks. I particularly liked some of the early tracks with choir, although the novelty wore off by the end. While I admire the broad instrumentation, some of the strings and synths felt very thin, especially on the track Cinnamon Horses. While the individual songs show off the talent of Jaco, the LP as a whole doesn't come together as anything more than the sum of its parts.

Wilco - Hot Sun Cool Shroud

Some really cool ideas on this EP, but none of them are really fleshed out. Seems more like a make-in-progress or a demo than a published EP. Love the guitar track on Hot Sun, and the vocals on Say You Love Me. Livid would make a great jam, but it's far too short as is. If you like Wilco's sound, you won't be disappointed, but you will be left craving more.
