Isn’t it crazy, a man who’s been writing songs since he was 14-15 years old still writing new songs that sound different from everything else he’s writing in his 80s!? This album is quite the emotional trip with it going into Paul’s childhood and upbringing, and you really get that feeling with ‘Down South’ and ‘We Two’ which might be about his fellow Beatles. I think the A side is kinda the let down, but the B side really brings it home and it ... read more
Oh my days. This is a beautiful album and the fact it’s all a medley elevates it more. The opening track ‘Speak To Me’ is like an overture that helps bring you into this movie of an album and with how each track flows into each other leads to the amazing ending that is ‘Brain Damage’ and ‘Eclipse’. I think this is a really good show of Pink Floyd as a whole, showing how they’re able to use psychedelic, classic, and jazz music all into one, with ... read more
Why is this actually good? The concept is a really interesting one that fits an album perfectly and it’s a wonder why I haven’t seen more of this kind of concept. An album that is built around it being a radio station that’s playing while you descend to the afterlife, and it’s really well made. Even just a surface glance, it’s really consistent, with making me feel I’m on a late night drive back home in the cold winter months the entire time. I like the ... read more
I don't think I've ever heard or will hear a version that rivals this cover
I heard the medley and knew I had to listen to this album and I mean what a fun listen. Although I would say this doesn’t hold anything groundbreaking or new for Paul but it’s still great with songs like ‘Uncle Albert/Admiral Hasley’ ‘Smile Away’ ‘Heart of the Country’ and ‘Long Hair Women’ probably being the best off of this album. I think it’s fun but I do think some songs overstay their welcome with an obvious example being ... read more
Both songs are great but I feel the difference between Inner Light and Lady Madonna is too great of one, I'd think that Hey Bulldog and Lady Madonna would've been the better duo for a single but I understand why they didn't
I'd also like to add that I have art based on this cover hanging up on my wall.
I love these two songs but I do think All Together Now, although enjoyable, is quite repetitive after the first bridge.
Hey Bulldog is an absolute banger jam
A worthy follow up imo. Although a drastically different soundscape from Alfredo, it carries the same continuity throughout the album which does make it really easy to just get lost in this world. My standout tracks are ‘Empanadas’ and ‘Gas Station Sushi’ to closer. Although I feel not as enticing as the first one, this does have a more simple and satisfying sound to the album that does make up for it. I kinda felt I got dropped into a 90s buddy cop movie
I was told about the Alfredo 2 and wondered if there was an Alfredo before it and so there was and that’s how I’m here. This is a great concept album and the soundscape carries over the entire album amazingly with no break in continuity. My stand outs in the album have to be ‘Look At Me’, ‘Something to Rap About’, and ‘Babies & Fools’ but the entire thing is great. My only gripe I have is that I feel like you have to listen to it in order, ... read more
What do you mean a month has passed since the release, I meant to listen to this the day it came out but hey, better late than never and I am so glad I did listen. Most songs in this short album are generational, with I Just Might, God Was Showing Off, and On My Soul being my favorites. I do this the album starts slow but it’s manageable and they’re are still great songs, and Risk It All made me remember how beautiful classical guitar solos are and that we should bring them back. ... read more
I admit it, I was never going to give this album a chance, Fleetwood Mac never really just caught my attention (although I still thought some of their songs were good), but the I heard a group play the entire album live and I knew I had to do a listen through. I feel like you can hear everyone’s focus on where they were with their relationships perfectly and the contrast really adds to the overall feel of the record. My stand out songs are Never Going Back Again and I Don’t Want to ... read more
A great reimagining of an already great film, with the songs going more in detail than the movie with songs like ‘cake’ and ‘hello, anyone home?’ really allowing for some side character growth. I liked how the songs that appear in the 1985 part sound like 80s rock and the songs that appear in the 1955 part sounds like 50s jazz, really adds a greater feeling of time travel, along with sound on par with the movies orchestration
A great album. I think that Tyler has evolved greatly and that this album shows his creativity the most. Like the production of all the songs are top tear and each are their own thing and not repetitive which I feel earlier albums are. I would say that every song is perfect but the topics on most of the songs on here are a little too weird and wacky for my taste and that does hurt relisten value, but the saving grace is the back half of the album (again). Just like flower boy, imo, the best ... read more
I love these outlaw westerns and this album makes me love them even more. As of recent, I’ve been fixated on classic westerns (like Lone Ranger classic) and with how media isn’t in this mood anymore, it’s hard to get the fix. Lucky we have these time capsules that keep the reminder of our nation’s past loves. All the songs on here are great and give a range of different stories and maybe some interconnected lore, depending on how you interpret it. My personal favorites ... read more
From start to finish, this album is just banger after banger. I was kinda scared of going into this ‘heavy’ rock, but it was amazing. The line up of War Pig/Luke’s Wall all the way to Hand of Doom is generational and the closer is really good. Now the only bump for me is Rat Salad and that’s not to say it’s a bad song, but it’s really just a drum test imo and I could skip it. Two things: can we please make more ‘psychologic’ jazz like songs in ... read more
When I think of Elvis, I recognize how big he was, but always thought him to be a joke, I mean the voice, the moves, the looks, but even with that I still have to agree he’s more talented than most people can be and this proves it. This is great to show why he was named the ‘King of Rock’ and why he is known as one of the greats in music. Although it is just a complication of the songs he performed for this special and isn’t an actual album, the songs and medleys are ... read more
“Hello, I’m Johnny Cash” and the inmates go wild. This is an amazing live album that really makes you feel like you’re right next to the prisoners watching Cash. All the songs fit the setting perfectly and help show off Cash’s range, not only as a musician, but as a singer too. Some stand out songs to me are “Folsom Prison Blues”, “25 Minutes to Go”, “The Long Black Veil”, and “Greystone Chapel”. My only complaints ... read more
Somehow crazier than the movie which I didn’t think was possible. Whipped into shape is basically that Key and Peele sketch. Can’t wait to see my high school put this on
(This is of the Chess Record’s 50th Anniversary version) What an album! I mean nothing beats Chuck Berry when it comes to rock. This album had some of the best guitar, drumming, piano, and vocals I’ve ever heard, and this was almost mid 60s, before Rock got expanded upon. I love how Berry goes back to the roots in some songs like “You Never Can Tell” “Go Bobby Soxer” and “Night Beat”, and how new (of the time) some these are like “No ... read more
