This album changed the way I looked at modern country and gave me a newfound respect for Zach Bryan. It is so much more raw, emotional, driven than all of its other contemporaries. Me from 2 years ago would hate me for saying this, but maybe country isn't too bad.
I originally listened to this so I can pull some Alt baddies, but it sucked me into the emo genre as a whole. Impressive.
In hindsight really mediocre.
I like it, just that some songs aren't really that memorable even after a few listens. I'd still play this on a road trip though.
Personal favorite for me. Brakence is the only artist with the balls to put a drill beat on a midwest emo song all self produced too. He has that rare unique baritone singing voice and the lush falsettos as a cherry on top. One of the few artists that uses formant for a reason not coming off forced at all. Also recommend hearing him live he sounds the same as the recordings.
I just keep listening to it daily. Its such a banger.
If someone listened to this without knowing who they are, they'd think an 18 year old made it in their garage with their friends. Holy hell this album stood the test of time which in its release was so ahead of it. It may even outlive our existence as a species.
Masterpiece that gets better with every listen. I don't think I've ever heard an album go through me so emotionally. Like the moon landing for exploration, penicillin for modern medicine, or the internet for communication, we came a long way from banging sticks on stones to an art piece fit for the louvre with no need of a frame.
Only 3 good songs on this album which are "Machu Picchu", "Under Cover of Darkness", and "Life is Simple In the Moonlight". Easily their worst and most forgettable album.
Enjoyable Indie Rock very true to their style when everyone thought they were washed up. Always one to replay every now and then. Eternal Summer was the only weakness here and is always a skip for me. The highs are high though.
