Shocked by the lack of reviews and ratings for this. Truly one of the most fun and memorable rnb/neo-soul records I’ve heard, consistently incredible production and hooks. So unbelievably underrated oh my lord
I need this on streaming asap. Some of his best work to date, and this is extremely overlooked. Go show 454 some love
Truly a fascinating remix album. I am mixed on these tracks being so drastically different from their originals, as I feel like the results are a lot more mellow than they should be. I still can’t tell if the features actually work or not. But this is still really enjoyable, and recontextualizes the entire album, making it feel a lot more personal and soft. Idk as someone who loved the singles I was really surprised by this one
Fav tracks are prob the singles, club classics remix, ... read more
This is everything I’ve wanted out of black midi. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve liked their stuff in the past but bc of how extreme and overwhelming it is, some of the replay value of their work has diminished for me personally. This is grand, lush, water-tight and Geordie has a huge amount of charisma and personality that is hard to replicate. Great great stuff
This is just Imogen heap for chronically online twinks and it’s so good
Edit: what was I cooking when I was writing this 😭🙏 guys trust me this is really good go check it out. Beautiful stuff
edit 2: yk what I stand by this haha but seriously Lucy is one of the most incredible artists to come out of this decade, truly next levels of talent.
This song is genius to me. It perfectly captures the struggle of loving someone, or being in love, and them not feeling the same way about you, or vice versa. Using the pendulum metaphor for the swinging back before, and the panning stretched out drums just are so effective in conveying the song’s themes. Twigs is able to pull all of this off while making an extremely enjoyable, beautiful and catchy song. Ts is a situationship anthem
This just makes me depressed I don’t even wanna talk abt it. It’s very obvious these songs are unfinished, and while they have good ideas it feels like they were just stretched out to pad out the length. I just think if SOPHIE was alive she would’ve touched these tracks up greatly. Still a legend, and her influence will not be forgotten. It’s just hard to listen to stuff that is unfinished from an artist who is no longer with us.
Honestly, this is my 2nd fav Travis project behind rodeo. Yes, it’s unpolished, and his vision was not fully realized yet, but these some are his catchiest and most compelling tracks to date. Before he got ultra famous he really was experimenting with so many different sounds, and this is definitely proof of that. Sloppy toppy, mamacita, dysti, skyfall, don’t play and backyard are all top tier Travis songs imo.
