7.4 - Quite Nice
As a huge fan of 100 gecs, I was very excited for this album. Even though I don’t usually listen to remix albums, I was interested to see what people would do with the original material. And for most of the part, it did not disappoint. I’d say though that the singles for this album were to me, superior to the ready of the album, but there were still some gems here. However to me this album went up and down all over the place in quality. But there were still some ... read more
EDIT: 9.0 - Amazing
I don’t really care bout some of the weaker tracks, this album is jam packed with absolute BANGERS! Some of these hooks are addicting too.
8.6 - Great
Dua Lipa comes through with some futuristic BANGERS with some much needed 00’s flare. Every song on here (except for Boys Will Be Boys sorry) gets stuck in your head every single time it’s played. The hooks on here are phenomenal and the production is so as well. My issues with it I guess are that Dua ... read more
8.3 - Great
This album is an interesting one for me, as when I first heard it, i thought it was around a 9.3, a truly mind blowing listen at the time. Sumney’s vocal performances are out of this world, to say the least. However overtime, this album has just grown less and less on me, as it is quite long for this album’s substance, and I just can’t come back to it as much for some reason. That’s probably just me but this album is still great, with some seriously mind ... read more
Edit: yeah it’s growing on me
8.3 - Great
Rina Sawayama’s debut album is a pop triumph, even if it falls flat for me at the end. There are so many memorable lines and hooks on this album on the same way that the EP does, but Sawayama still is able to keep her songs fresh and new sounding throughout the record. Songs like XS, STFU! and Comme Des Garçons are some of my favorites this year. Also the production on this album is seamless, with no dips in quality whatsoever. A ... read more
8.4 - Great
A very enjoyable but short project from these two. Kenny Beats has some of his best production yet on this project, while Denzel takes the mic and flows on each beat with ease. These two have a ton of potential as a duo for the future, and all in all, this is a very entertaining, easy to ingest project.
Best Songs: Take_It_Back_v2, Lay_Up.m4a, DIET_, ‘Cosmic’.m4a
Least Fav: Track 01
9.5 - Must-Listen
Sarah, Gus, and Jamie take a melancholic but hopeful trip through life in this album, full of thoughtful jams and bangers. This truly personal album uses influences of indie rock and pop to convey a message of the sufferings that each of the members went through at the time. This is some fantastic music.
Best songs: Time Today, Only Acting, Flyway, Make Believe, Dear Future Self, If I’d Known, Sometimes, Swimming
Least fav: n/a
Travis has been Frank Ocean levels of quiet since Emily dropped those bars on him.
9.5 - Must Listen
The latest album from Fiona Apple is a introspective look into her mind. It is filled with amazing instrumentation and a sort of “locked inside” sound, as Fiona and her team use items that could be found around her studio. This album deals with issues including female empowerment and sexual abuse, being tackled with force, making it one of the most powerful albums of this year so far. A Phenomenal listen.
Edit: This album is just too good. I can’t get over ... read more
