Love all of the Nujabes tracks but the album falls off toward the end. Still thoroughly enjoyable
Freddie Gibbs doesn't miss. I thought Uncle Al might phone it in after some of his questionable recent choices (the artificial intelligence thing) but he came with some heat. 1995 obviously has this crazy second guitar beat that Freddie flows on, but the best produced song on the project HAS to be Lavish Habits. That alongside Freddie saying on the track that he's gonna twist Akademiks's titties and that Gunna is a little plea dealing bastard, easily my favorite track. Only ... read more
I had really high expectations coming into this after previously LOVING Scrapyard. After all, if Scrapyard were the throwaways, what could he have had in the vault for this album? However, after listening to this album, it became clear that Scrapyard weren't throwaways, but rather songs that he felt compelled to make that simply don't fit into this project narratively. That's because if I'm being fully honest, I came out of Vanisher feeling like Scrapyard is the better album ... read more
EDIT 9/2/25:
92 -> 97
I feel kind of bad for not giving this project a fair non-meme review, so here's a fair go, especially since this album has been seriously impactful in my life. This record has probably my favorite instrumentation of any music I've ever heard. It feels like a combination of every walk and genre of music packed into one hell of a talented ensemble. The biggest jump this 4 points takes is from me enjoying Wood's vocals a lot more now, as well as the ... read more
I actually enjoyed the fuck outta this, and I don't usually like country (besides some Zach Bryan and Dolly Parton). Beyonce slid here.
one of my all-time favorites. some of the greatest combinations of instrumentation and writing ever.
I just gotta accept that Little Simz isn't for me. I really REALLY wanted to like this project, but I just wasn't a huge fan of Simz's voice and at some points this project just killed me of boredom. I still think there's a lot of good here, but I can't see myself coming back, at least for a while
Two guys to look out for in the future. This album slaps especially at a time earlier this year where a lot of rap sucked (little did I know everything would be dropping this summer).
Maybe it'll grow on me before, but my friend was recommending this and gassing it heavy and I'm just not feeling it. Not a huge fan of Smino's mic presence or delivery on this, but there's still some great tracks and overall it has a nice vibe. I think it'd like it a lot more if I was high while listening
Should be way more mainstream considering the success of OF and Alchemist nowadays. Everybody talks about the Earls and the Tylers and the Franks but we need more Domo love. Great production, nearly every song hits, what a ride
I actually would rate this higher but the fact that I completely forgot I listened to this EP speaks for itself
What a joy to listen to. This is Young Thug at his peak of creativity. Hit after hit while simultaneously having these strange vocal inflections and flows. Thugger outdid himself
Not understanding the hate. Pretty fun listen, lot of cool rage tracks on here
EDIT 70 -> 69 for continuity
1/4. Behold is the only track of note. Yachty sounds terrible on Knew Better. Lisa is sleepy. Animals literally made me laugh when I heard it because I knew Eminem was gonna do some sumalamadumalama BS on the track, but then JID decides to start the track by doing it too. A little disappointing, but these are throwaways so I expect the album to be more focused
Eminem's technical ability is more than certainly still there, but I feel he's just forgotten how to make a memorable or compelling song. Like seriously, I didn't take anything away from this entire project besides that he loves his daughter and that JID is crazy with it. For someone that's a lyrical rapper, having no substance in your lyrics weighs you down.
I remember distinctly being on the way home and seeing that Childish Gambino dropped a new album. I got all excited and took a listen, and realized it was that untitled album that I never gave a shot fully finished. Now that this record is fully finished, I can say its actually pretty decent. A ton of memorable tracks
Unique mix of singing and rapping ability that to this day has remained unseen since. This is the bar for all female rappers to come.
really bland and unappetizing. uzi completely ran out of sauce on this one. literally sounds like rapping for a check
