It might not be perfect, but it's an enjoyable listen. Toliver seems to only be getting better
One of the more controversial hip-hop albums in terms of ratings, I actually enjoyed the fuck outta this Cudi. Dynamic performances and solid production keep it fresh
One of those collabs that sound better in your head. Kaytranada's production is too chill for us to get a ton of great performances out of Amine.
Only rating the deluxe tracks here: For the most part, these shouldn't have been throwaways. Way too much quality here. Wharf Talk has been on repeat.
EDIT 1/27/26: I've needed to update this rating for a while now that I'm more into Brockhampton, although I think my original review is kinda funny still (especially since I didn't realize they had a song with peggy). but yeah this album is actually fantastic, and more than certainly better than Saturation 2 (which imo is very very overrated and that rating will be staying a 79).
I'm liking what I'm hearing, but I can't tell who's who in terms of vocals yet ... read more
EARL IS SO BACK. Fully matured, we get a wise, introspective Earl here who is flowing over some tight Alchemist production. The features slap, the songs slap, the hooks slap. This is my favorite Earl project.
Yeah, this thing is perfect. Earl encapsulates the feeling of being in the fucking depths, stuck in your own mind. This also being kinda a turning point in his career, like a trench that he can only rise from is just crazy.
This is some weird nerd rap goodness. I don't like everything on here but even the skip worthy songs add to this bleak ass album. Poor Earl man
Such a moody, dark atmospheric record. Probably the most mature thing to come out of Odd Future initially besides Channel Orange. Feature list is wild, Vince's feature on Hive is the best verse on the album for my money. Actually, if I'm being really honest, whenever Vince hops on the mic it's golden haha
When I first saw this album, I was at first confused at how I hadn't heard of it sooner. Madlib? Dilla? Collabing on the same record? It felt like it was meant to be great. After my first listen, I understood why it wasn't mainstream. Undeniably Madlib and Dilla were producers for a reason, not really writers or rappers. That doesn't stop there from being some great cuts from here, but it leaves something to be desired more. Something we'll very unfortunately never get.
This has quickly skyrocketed up my list of favorite albums. Easily playable for any audience, chill, vibable hip-hop neo soul. No skips. Lady Brown is too good
Sleepy, but in a good way. Larry June continues to be very overrated. If I owned a yacht I'd play this a lot more
A little too EDM for me. I respect it though there's still some bangers. Alyssa Interlude is up there with my favorite interludes though.
Found out about this album because people were saying it was better than "I Lay Down My Life For You", and I really originally put it on to try to hate listen. It didn't work. This album is phenomenal. I love the mini-themes and morals within each track, even if I feel like the tracklist somewhat falls off after Justin. I don't remember what I rated ILDMLFY, but this damn well might be better.
RIP Mac. I've sobbed to this album way too many times. The ballads of a broken man. Love the jazzy production. Man
