Lena Raine & Samuel Åberg - Minecraft: The Wild Update (Original Game Soundtrack)
NR

this ep is so funny to me because the first three songs are like this beautiful introspective music that make you think of exploring the vast world that Minecraft has to offer and then you just get absolutely jumpscared by Five. no notes

Sophie Powers - move with me
80

hello internet I am back to send my opinions into the void again !!! I kind of forgot aoty was a thing whoops but now I am ready to yap about music hooray

I REALLY liked this single - genuinely I think this is Sophie's best song yet. The song as a whole is more mature than her previous works (as in, less on the nose) and the production is miles better (I know gonek has produced most of her recent work but this track stands out for sure) - the second I heard this one I knew this would be a ... read more

NewJeans - Get Up

12 minutes of Kpop perfection!! newjeans really took over the summer last July with this. soo fun light and airy and great vocals, production and some really interesting turns. the trumpet on ETA SLAPS. I've looped this several times, newjeans slayed again

beabadoobee - Patched Up

An absolute classic of bedroom and indie pop. Bea sings with such conviction and has such a gentle voice in this EP. Emotional lyrics but she also comforts the listener throughout. Love this one. Lie on the floor and listen to it.

Paramore - This Is Why
93

I was so happy when this won Best Rock Album at the Grammys this year. Absolutely deserved and this is one of my favorite albums of 2023 for sure.

This Is Why is a clever and tight set of ten songs, clocking in at just over 35 mins but is stellar throughout the whole run time. Witty lyrics, Hayley's vocals and sick guitar riffs the entire time. Some songs further down the line take a gentler approach, but still pack the punch that Paramore has become known for. Dancey, punky, full of attitude ... read more

Bring Me The Horizon - POST HUMAN: NeX GEn

Sans Undertale reference in rip???!?!??!?! that took me out man

I had absolutely no idea what to expect from this - I've never listened to BMTH before, but I was drawn in by the promise of an AURORA feature because she's one of my favorite artists in the game at the moment. I vaguely knew that BMTH was kind of edgy stuff and I didn't know much else

This was... pretty edgy! It was also menacing at times, with the metal/emo/pop/rock vibe going on. This is thoroughly emo. I feel like I don't ... read more

THE BLACKWHITECOLORFUL - Retelling The Tale
58

Hello again it's time for another episode of bandcamp surprised me! This time I went to the alternative section of bandcamp and this is what I received. This is a funny one bc it's a remix ep and seeing as I've never heard the original songs I have no clue what they sounded like before

THE BLACKWHITECOLORFUL are an alt rock band from Germany and this is an EP remixing songs from their album, Live to Tell the Tale. I will say some of the EP does suffer from cursive singing (if you know what I ... read more

Doja Cat - Scarlet 2 CLAUDE
76

This is just for the newer tracks - I love this collection honestly, most of these songs have so much more charm than the original collection of Scarlet. Doja shows a lot of versatility with her delivery, and A$AP and Teezo have great features.

OKLOSER is fun and catchy (my fav of the bunch), MASC is a more introspective song, URRRGE!!!!!!!!!! is aggressive and confident. Almost wish these had just been on the original instead!

I was looking around on Bandcamp and wanted to find some underground hiphop bc why not. clicked 'surprise me' on their search feature and this comes up! wasn't even on the site so here we are - I just want to listen to as much new stuff as possible and share that with others too!

Dave & Central Cee - Split Decision
67

I went into this liking Dave from Psychodrama and finding Cench a bit... eh after Doja. Trojan Horse has some cool production (Santan is Dave right I haven't made that up??) But sometimes the two bounce off each other quite well

Yeah most of the songs suffer from some cringe lines but Sprinter sounds fun enough that I forget about it and Dave delivers. The rest is fine

Sprinter - 8
Our 25th Birthday - 6

Motorpsycho - The Crucible
78

Taz is singlehandedly creating an AOTY Motorpsycho fan club I can see from the reviews

This honestly goes hard I thought oh three songs nice short listen WRONG but I don't feel bad about it this was great

I don't really know what to say except this is a really awesome piece of rock. I thought it was gonna be super loud and intense the whole time so it wasn't what I was expecting but I really really enjoyed it. I love the brass(?) and the drums on Lux Aeterna, that's my fav track of the ... read more

Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross - Challengers (Original Score)
95

This goes so unbelievably hard even on its own but within the context of the movie?!?!
The piano passage in L'oeuf gives me chills idk why. The high tempo, high energy electronic stuff though, is absolutely insane. The synths and drums work SO WELL. This will become a classic. It's so instantly recognisable

Absolutely stunning film score. This better win some prizes.

Gorillaz - Demon Days
100

A masterpiece of trip hop. Everything here is produced to perfection, the features elevate each song to another level, and Damon albarn's vocals add to the atmosphere of every track on this album. The strings on Last Living Souls, the eerie intro to O Green World, the iconic bass line on Feel Good Inc., the spooky storytelling on Fire Coming out of the Monkey's Head, it all comes together to make this unforgettable experience. You will never feel cooler.

ouch

the lofi instrumentals and repeating lines from Earl... man this hurts

claire rousay - sentiment
73

claire rousay's sentiment has some of the most gorgeous, warm, and hazy instrumentals that I absolutely adored the tracks even without the vocals, (and lyrics, which are also a highlight). You can just put your headphones on and let the music wash over you and it's really something else. fuzzy production and, the violins that show up at times is beautiful

I'm not a huge fan of the overly processed vocals but to be fair I'm pretty new to this type of stuff, so maybe it just needs some getting ... read more

Taylor Swift - THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT
66

Insert 'no-fucking-body' from the title track into the awkward profanity music canon.

I don't know how to feel about this. I absolutely love both folklore and evermore, and most of her older works, really. I thought Midnights was alright. I don't even have all of the same complaints about the production in this one, it's fine and I do like the twinkling synths in some of the songs (even though it gets old after a while). (NOTE: after listening to the whole thing I definitely prefer Aaron ... read more

girl in red - I'M DOING IT AGAIN BABY!
56

pick me. choose me. love me

this is wayyy too short to be an LP?? it's not even half an hour man
a lot of the songs have a nice message but the execution was just a bit... eh

You Need Me Now? has actually grown on me a lot to be fair, I didn't like that little skit in the middle at first but it's fine you know whatever and I love the energy of that song. It just feels like a lot of the album doesn't have that energy that her older music did and I feel like there could definitely have been ... read more

Conan Gray - Found Heaven
87

Listening to the singles leading up to this album's release I've been loooving the 80s synth-pop vibe that this has been going for. Listening to the album absolutely did not disappoint! It's been said but Conan Gray's voice is ridiculously good here. It transforms when he sings in his lower register but his range is mad when he belts the higher notes as well. This has shimmering production and a wide variety of songs in this short 35 min run time.

Bourgeoisieses is absolutely fantastic, those ... read more

Anaïs Mitchell - Young Man in America

Good Kid - Good Kid 4
68

Good Kid 4 is only the second project from Good Kid I've actually listened to, so I can't say any of the same things that a lot of the reviews of this are saying (it's all very similar, etc)

I love the opener, Bubbly, though. From the opening click of that drinks can you've got a bubbly (ha) explosive indie pop banger that I've had on loop for a while.
From The Start is good but you can't beat the original, of course. (live laugh Laufey)
Summer, Dance Class and Premier Inn are good but didn't ... read more
