i really liked the first track so the rest wasn't as appealing but it was still an awesome and unique record
such a sweet album, a little typical and the lyrics aren't very elaborate but it's a good roadtrip listen. each song on this album has a music video (mostly in a car) and i think that's very awesome. it got a little repetitive but if you let yourself sink into the music it really helps you enjoy it more.
favourites: special girl, rainbow, before the line, guiltless
least favourites: hate myself, four tequilas down, ., boys like you
originally a 80+ but i listened to it the next day and it wasn't as good :(
the instrumentals are great but i wish i wasn't so picky with vocals!
thanks @oakie for the recommendation/expressed positive emotions about the album that made me want to listen to it months later :Joy: :Joe: :Joey:
i can explain..
original rating: 76
as a kid i always refused to listen to weezer due to the band name... i just couldn't stand the thought of falling in love with weezer's music and telling someone "yeah my favourite band is weezer".
but the curiosity grew on me, so here's my first weezer listen recommended by @Stal (and now rereading the message he said "blue and pinkerton" and my brain somehow just read "pinkerton")
this album has very questionable lyrics and ... read more
iDKHOW meets the weeknd perhaps?
i think this single is great. it's an easy listen, it's got an atmospheric chorus instrumental and it's influenced by the 80's. a bit too simple for my taste, but i still enjoyed it.
favourite track: higher power

maybe this didn't connect to me as much as it should've. i felt it was a bit repetitive, like i heard it all before...
vocals really got to my nerves, but i enjoyed the drum patterns.
one sunny afternoon, a norweigan musician well-known for her contribution to the wlw community thought to herself:
"will i always be known for loving women?
no, i refuse to.
i will make a debut album that blows the socks off every music critic to ever exist on the face of this Earth."
and so she worked.
she wrote and sang her songs, taking her sweet time to produce something perfect.
this process was excruciating.
after multiple frustration outbursts, she momentarily gave up....

dear vocalists:
don't use your falsetto voice for the entire song, it's the most annoying thing a singer can do.
I DONT KNOW HOW BUT THEY FOUND ME is such a unique band, and dallon weekes is such a great singer. this cover (song is originally by Beck) is horrible.
i would've never expected billie eilish to enter a more acoustic direction, but honestly i think it suits her better than her past work. i recognize and appreciate the polished aesthetics but it feels like there's something missing.
the album cover literally has a skeleton on a swing, what's there not to like?
dallon weekes and mike gross are such talented vocalists. for a band that had quite literally no traction or super professional equipment, this record goes beyond my expectations. more personality than technicality, as they say.
favourites: c'mon vietnam & boring (which is on violent things too!)
least favourite: she's a robot
how are you supposed to review this correctly when he doesn't even make his own music? according to what comes up when you ask google if he makes his own music, you get:
"he is a networker in the music industry. he finds beats and puts together collaborations that he think will sell well. he does not actually make the beat."
this is dogshit anyways. boring as hell
vices & virtues had more technological perfections than personality, which is usually a bad thing but when you have so many talented musicians sitting down and working together it can be turned into this special and criminally underrated album. the elements of a steampunk 80s inspired era that was contained in their live shows, album cover, music videos, etc added so much character to vices & virtues. it exceeds my expectations especially after their primary songwriter left the ... read more
