Another absolutely peak deathgrind record, “ECDER” is the first thing I’ve listened to from Brutal Truth, and needless to say it’s all I expected and more. Not only do all the songs move at the typical pissed off and excited pace, but also the actual subject matter is hella sick. Meshuggah means “crazy” or “foolish” in Yiddish. So basically, a band called “foolish” is heavier than your mom. It was never a phase. This album is the quintessential doom album of bats and big hair. The gothiest metal album I’ve heard in quite some time, “Turn Loose the Swans” is built on a heavy blanket of atmosphere and a Victorian bed of death/doomy riffs.
