Gotta agree with the general consensus here

Penelope Scott - Public Void

Weezer, emo, and Penelope- the unholy trifecta of pure cringe. Why did I listen to this shit? Indie sadboy/girl is the spawn of satan himself. At least I agree what she’s saying, even if it’s cringe as hell. It also has that “gay showtunes” beat a lot, which is insufferable. Fuck indie, fuck sadboys/girls

Brutal Truth - Extreme Conditions Demand Extreme Responses

Another absolutely peak deathgrind record, “ECDER” is the first thing I’ve listened to from Brutal Truth, and needless to say it’s all I expected and more. Not only do all the songs move at the typical pissed off and excited pace, but also the actual subject matter is hella sick. Ts just a big anti-right wing “fuck you.” There’s even a song about homophobia in 1992. Pretty commendable tbh. We need more bands and artists like this. Artists not afraid to ... read more

Meshuggah - Destroy Erase Improve

Meshuggah means “crazy” or “foolish” in Yiddish. So basically, a band called “foolish” is heavier than your mom. This is, of course, an incredibly influential and important record, being the album that really defined the sound of the soon-to-be pioneers of Djent, Progressive Metal, Technical Metal, Metalcore, Deathcore, and a bunch of other genres that I can’t name. It’s insanely impressive how ahead of its time this record is, I mean this sounds ... read more

My Dying Bride - Turn Loose the Swans
89

It was never a phase. This album is the quintessential doom album of bats and big hair. The gothiest metal album I’ve heard in quite some time, “Turn Loose the Swans” is built on a heavy blanket of atmosphere and a Victorian bed of death/doomy riffs. This whole album is thick and textured, with an atmosphere that just screams “funeral for a really hot goth lady.” It has it all, from violins to middle school-style sexy poetry, to death growls. The guitars and bass ... read more
