I found this for $1 on vinyl in mint condition with the shrinkwrap on it at Goodwill. Actually a great album from an underrated band and I didn't even know I knew "Day After Day" before as well. Their story as a group and the tragic deaths of the members hurts, though - I recommend reading about it.
Anyway... Waltuh
Even David Bowie's "bad" albums are honestly pretty good, and Tonight is a fine example. Sure, it's not Ziggy or Low, but it's a fine pop record - even if it's pretty evident it was a rush job and Bowie didn't really put much effort into this project. Oddly enough, it's possibly one of the best mixed and mastered albums I've listened to - everything just sounds incredibly clean, dynamic, and well put together even if your thoughts on the quality inside may well vary. It's worth it for ... read more
Just here to say "Mother I Sober" made me sob under my desk once. Incredible album.
This album is great and possibly my favorite thing Grian Chatten (of Fontaines D.C.) has been involved with that I've heard. Definitely worth a listen, a lot of great songwriting on this one. Love pretty much everything here.
I don’t know how mainstream country went from
“I wear the black for the poor and the beaten down, livin' in the hopeless, hungry side of town”
to
“Lord, we got folks in the street, ain't got nothin' to eat, and the obese milkin' welfare… well, God, if you're 5-foot-3 and you're 300 pounds, taxes ought not to pay for your bags of fudge rounds”
…but it’s incredibly depressing. Shameful, really.
An absolutely brilliant album even if I'm not ending up spinning it a lot.
Not gonna lie, this is actually a pretty fine radio pop album. Not bad even if it's not some incredible artistic achievement or whatever. Plus the last two songs are legitimately really good.
This album had me dancinggggg. I never listened to a Carly Rae Jepsen album before even though everyone's been telling me to listen to her for years... I think I've been missing out. This is excellent.
Honestly, on first listen, lot of this is quality - but it sort of feels like it just drags, especially in the second half. I won't really judge Utopia for that though unless that persists after more listens because there's a ton of innovative production on this thing and I love the features as well, so I'm thinking it may be more of a grower than anything. Modern Jam, My Eyes, Meltdown, Fein, Topia Twins, and Telekinesis are my favs so far.
Also, what's the beef with K-Pop? It's a fine ... read more
This album is amazing. This album is the album of the life. I love this thing. Aqua is awesome and epic and you are all just so jealous of them because they make better music than you. 58 average? Get the hell outta here. Dance Dance Revolution would be NOTHING without this album
…jokes aside, this album genuinely slaps.
Holy SHit. It has been 20 years to the DAY this masterpiece dropped. I can't even give it a rating because it is THAT good, I would be defiling this album if I did. Comparing this album to other albums is like comparing a Monte Carlo with a LS swap to a Monte Carlo without one. You cant. Vanilla Ice reinvented the game AGAIN on this album, after inventing rap music with "ice ice baby" in 1990. Plus DAMN look at that album art. I can't tell who is hotter honestly, yeah that girl is ... read more
never got through the whole album but Do You Remember is actually a great song. corny maybe but it just encapsulates those long summers as a kid like nothing else. i could definitely leave the rest though.
Just rating the bonus tracks right now. I gotta go to bed but I just wanted to hear some of these songs. Yeah I saw the Fantano review and yeah I’m giving the bonus tracks the same rating lmao. I’m a drone I guess. But this is good either way.
Definitely different than I expected. I think as a fan of this band, The Ballad of Darren is a welcome endeavor into a new sound that I think will grow on me over time.
This kiiiind of reminds me of Arctic Monkeys’ The Car, but it’s a lot more varied than that album, and there’s definitely a later Bowie influence (think maybe shades of Hours or the Next Day). It shares the most thematically with Blur’s Britpop-era albums, yet also doesn’t really sound anything ... read more
I have to explain myself.
It was a beautiful day. May 6, 2022. The birds were chirping. The air was fresh with not a cloud in the sky. I was looking for something to listen to that May 6th, some new music to hear on a nice walk outside. I look down at my phone. This new Arcade Fire album's been getting hyped up as a comeback, a bounce back after the disappointment people felt about their prior record... let me rewind a few years.
It's 2017. I'm riding the bus back and forth in the heat from ... read more
