Admittedly, upon first listen, I was slightly disappointed with my overall enjoyment of this record. HOWEVER, with this being my first time listening to a Swans LP, I still very much enjoyed it front to back. I just wish I was able to call this record a masterpiece. All of my issues came from Disc 1 seeing as though if Disc 2 were a stand-alone project, I probably would have given this album a 10. I legitimately feel as though Frankie M and the title track were flawless in my eyes. The only ... read more
It's not just nostalgia... This album is everything that an ambient record should be.
A one of a kind shoegaze album with some of the most ethereal and dreamlike production out there. This album literally lures you in with its instrumentals and colorful sounds.
Aside from a few great songs here and there, this album definitely doesn't feel like an incredibly special or unique project. However, I still find this album to be pretty good. I honestly felt like many of the tracks reminded me of some instrumentals off of Doolittle by Pixies which is a green flag in my book.
this album is pretty entertaining and very bold and ambitious with its production but as far as each individual track goes, it doesn't sound like a project I plan on returning to. I'll Be Right There goes pretty hard tho
I really don't get the appeal...
Other than a couple of moments that I was able to sway around a bit, this album really has nothing to offer for me. I found the lyrics and vocal style to be incredibly cringey. I also felt like the production throughout was annoying to listen to. This whole project felt like something made by The Living Tombstone.
this album is unique and ambitious and I appreciate it for being entertaining and inclusive of complex structures and instrumentals, however, I found this project to be pretty forgettable overall
A very solid debut from the band
Even if there were a few tracks off this record that I rarely ever come back to, I still think the high moments off the album are interesting, hard-hitting, unique, and at times beautiful.
its pretty and the production is definitely THERE, but honestly, this album really doesn't do much for me
(my fav track was One Time)
though BLUE LIPS includes solid production and flow throughout, this album feels just a few tracks too long to consider coming back to frequently
A couple bangers but not a project I see myself coming back to really at all
I actually kinda dig Metro's production on this thing but mannnn Future's flow and lyrics make so many of these tracks feel boring and forgettable
This album includes eerie tones but in a way that I find is fun to listen to
Though Starless is my favorite King Crimson song, I can't say I enjoy this album as much as ITCOTCK. Still, Red manages to keep those signature King Crimson instrumentals which leads me to praise every track on this record.
