IMPORTANT PLEASE READ: I originally wrote this review January 14th but accidentally hit delete review instead of delete rating when trying to change my rating and write an edit. I guess I'm still trying to work this website out lmao. Anyway, this was meant to be the edit:

I'll be honest, when I listened to this the first 5 times then wrote my review, I didn't get that much out of the album lyrically and conceptually. Not that I didn't want to, I just couldn't find any form of lyrics online ... read more

Man, this was such an uncomfortable listen, but not for good reason. 'Spare Ribs' is an electro-punk album by Nottingham, UK band Sleaford Mods. Despite its cunning lyricism, at times bouncy basslines reminiscent of an underground club rave, and somewhat interesting ideas, 'Spare Ribs' falls flat in its execution.

It would be a little unfair if I did not start this off talking about Jason Williamson's vocals. It has character, sure, but not in an Alex Turner 'Whatever People Say I Am...' sort ... read more

One of the releases I was most anticipating this year and it does not disappoint at all. A mature improvement from their debut album 'Songs of Praise'.

'Drunk Tank Pink' is the sophomore effort from British band shame. DTP is an energetic and chaotic jumble of tracks with impeccable structures and guitar work. The album starts off with 'Alphabet', a rumbling song with piercing repeating guitar chords on the right channel and vocalist Charlie Steen chanting the lyrics at the top of of his ... read more

Midwest vibe with a somber palette. I wish this album was a bit more consistent in quality. Tracks like ' Sober Haha Jk Unless' and 'Feral Rat Anthem' are very interesting listens, but much of the rest of the tracklist fail to pull me in enough and keep me interested for too long. Guitar work and tone on this are great, though vocals are similarly inconsistent to me, lyrics too. The somber tracks are nice but drag on a little too long without going anywhere. An enjoyable listen, but not much of ... read more

This album gives me a post-punk-sex-club-in-the-middle-of-nowhere-frequented-by-rednecks-and-hillbillies vibe.

With that out of the way, 'Welfare Jazz' is the second record and my personal introduction to Swedish post-punk band, Viagra Boys. The odd-and-out-there band name and a picture of Iggy Pop holding the cover I saw on Twitter really made it irresistible for me to give this a listen lol.

The real winner of this LP to me really is bass. 'Low-end heavy' is pretty much this album's middle ... read more

About
Pretty new to this music-reviewing thing, but figured it would be a good past-time during the COVID times. Wouldn't say I have the most unique taste in music, so this is a kind of way to start being more open-minded to stuff I wouldn't even give a chance in the past if anything. Probably gonna review anytime I feel like it lmao.
