Los Thuthanaka's debut came by a combination of the minor success of Chuqiomamani-Condori and Joshua Chuquimia's solo careers, with Joshua's Psychedelic Post Rock and Chuquimia's Electronic collage coming together and making one of the best debuts of the year. The album sounds like ancestral tribal music trying to break the veil of electronics breaking a rapture in modern music. Sure, it's not out of this world to say that Electronic Collage is something that has been ... read more
Bill Evans' gently piano fits so well with Toots Thielemans' melancholic harmonica, combining together to make one of the prettiest albums I have heard. Both Bill and Toots are brilliant in their instruments, most of the time sounding sentimental and reminiscent, but at times, even though they remained superbly gentle, the atmosphere seemed uneasy like the beginning of Tomato Kiss, but at times it felt like a classic late 50s Modal Jazz ballad. I really loved this album and it should ... read more
The Cardinals debut Masquerade has come with a surprising amount of popularity and positive feedback. This album is really nostalgic for me, reminding me of the summer when I was in elementary school going to visit my grandparents, I really loved how this album ... read more
Porcelain Hearts' debut came out of nowhere, a Chamber Pop album with very little promotion or push and I was surprised it had barely any recognition this year. At times, I will agree with some people, it sounded like it was satirizing Chamber Pop, Vestige had such a nasally performance that I couldn't understand a thing and Severine had a pretty eye rolling instrumental, however, I think the majority of this album is really good. I appreciated how twinkly and gorgeous it was, never ... read more
