James Blake is on a pretty good run this year, and this EP is the perfect way for him to end it. This man has an angelic voice, and once again uses it to produce a magnificent piece of work.
Amine, I’ve been praising you for the longest time and you give us this?! Come on man, I’m disappointed in you. Should have kept this to yourself:(
Who is Tennisboywill ? To be honest, I don’t really even know it myself, but a friend of mine recommenced his music to me so I checked this album out. If I didn’t think he deserved more attention, I wouldn’t even bother writing this review, but here I am.
Escape 2020 is an album that has surprisingly good wavy production, which sets an atmospheric/trap vibe that reminds me of something Unotheactivist could rap on. Even though he can get boring at times, Tennisboywill rides ... read more
I have known King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard for quite some time now, but I had never listened to any of their albums. This time, I had no excuse, so I decided that I would finally give them a chance, and I’m glad I did !
I enjoyed this record, particularly thanks to the diversity and the variety of genres and styles thrown up in the mix throughout the album. The songs are pretty different from each other, which makes the album fun to listen to. With only ten tracks, the project ... read more
I like Sheck Wes ! He’s definetely underrated in my opinion. I love his energy, his adlibs and most of the time, he is surrounded by great production. This song is the exact definition of that. Lyrically, there’s nothing impressive here obviously, but I still appreciate this track for what lt is, a catchy and energetic banger. It’s way better than Rich one day to me, and it’s a nice single to promote his upcoming album.
Coming out strong after finding huge success on Tik Tok, Benee releases Hey u x, a good debut album that lives up to the hype. With the material that she had released in the past, it was obvious that the New Zealander had potential and was talented. She comes through, with a light-hearted and fun indie pop record that is easy to listen to and pleasant to the hear. The features are pretty good. They’re definitely a nice addition to the album itself, especially Grime’s. Benee has been ... read more
First of all, fly high Von, tragic story. Let’s get through the review.
After a few very strong months, King Von comes through with a record filled with bangers. It is a pretty basic project, but it’s very well executed. The production is nothing out of the ordinary, but it allows Von to give his intense and energetic performances. He was also a very good storyteller, which is a key point on this record. His talent was undeniable, and I think that he had the potential to become a ... read more
I heard of Brevin Kim through the Complex owned media Pigeons & Planes as one of their favorite artists. The pop duo is slowly making waves in the underground and is climbing into a bigger audience. Their music stands out to what’s currently offered in pop. It’s not anything crazy, but this record offers very nice experimentation. The songs sound different from each other, so I’ve been really entertained through my listen. I do see these guys reaching a big fan base and ... read more
Don’t get me wrong, I do understand why people like this record so much, but it’s not for me. I do enjoy the halloween atmosphere and the experimental instrumentals, which are very ambitious, but the rapper is an unoriginal and boring performer that fails to keep me interested. The production makes up for it, but at times, it’s just too loud for my liking. I want to actually like this so bad, but for now, I just can’t.

We waited, they delivered. After a fantastic run of singles, Gorillaz finally releases Song Machine, an album with very fun synth production and original collaboration. After a quite mid decade of music for the guys, it’s nice to see that they still have it. It’s safe to say that the band produces their best album since Plastic Beach.
The hype was real, but they didn’t disappoint, making incredibly fun music. Truly one of the best albums of the year.
Man, I can’t even describe how excited I was to listen to this album. Jean Dawson has clearly been one of my favorite artists, if not my favorite for the last few months.
It’s very hard to categorize his music, but if I had to do it, I’d say it’s emo alternative pop punk rap. So many genres are mixed all together to form a fantastic and unique record. Almost everything about this is great. Energetic performances along with in your face vocals, amazing instrumentals and ... read more
Griselda’s back at it again, with what is probably my favorite album of the bunch this year.
Benny the Butcher’s “Burden of Proof” is great. The production is top-tier, as expected. Hit-Boy apparently doesn’t miss lately. Benny does amazing on these beats and shows that he is a skilled MC. The features for the most part are outstanding and really contribute to this album as a whole. One of my favorite hip-hop albums of the year.

To be honest, the only James Blake album that I’ve listened to is Assume Form (which I love), so I never heard James Blake go for more house-oriented sound. Vibes are on point, but I am hoping for more if he drops an album. Cool release
Westside Gunn and Griselda have been on a run this year. Conway the Machine recently dropped a pretty good album, it was now Gunn’s turn for his third release of the year. While not as good as Pray for Paris, this project is solid. As always, Mr. Flygod comes through with amazing production, great piano beats, good features, entertaining adlibs and energetic performances. This has potential to grow on me over time, and overall, it’s a very enjoyable record.
Without a doubt the best trap release of the year. Crazy how 21 evolved
Metro came through with amazing dark scary beats that really carry the whole vibe of this project. 21 offered some great performances over these beats. Even with his monotonous style of rapping, he managed to bring energy to these tracks with decent bars and man, Morgan Freeman is here this was meant to be a good record.
Edit : Grew off me, OG score 84
Well, lots of music to listen to this week ! To be honest, I wasn’t really excited for this and my expectations were not that high, since I didn’t like his last project, but this is actually pretty good ! A very well executed Lo-fi record with amazing vocals from Joji and very good production. Hopefully he’ll keep improving.
Fav Tracks : Daylight, Sanctuary, Reanimator
Least Fav : Pretty Boy
Killer beat, great performances from Young Thug and Travis, but M.I.A’s verse is below average. Overall a good song, we’ll see what Travis has to offer next !
When I heard that Baby Keem was dropping these tracks on friday, I got excited. DFMB is one of my favorite albums of 2019, so my expectations were pretty high for these singles. At first I wasn’t feeling these songs at all, but they grow on me the more I listen to them. Solid bangers
