The perfect conclusion to the partner album 'Swimming' and Mac's musical journey.
For a first project, I find this to be a great introduction into Drint and his style. He shows his ability to fill out and shape a song regardless of the production style. With “First Choice” & “Change” being higher energy with afuller instrumental compared to the softer feel of the second half of the project. I feel that Drint really came into his own on “Love me Crazy” & “Make Your Body Say”

As my introduction to Yola, this is a very good album. I think the first half of the album is solid. Songs like “Shady Grove” and “ Ride Out In The Country” have lyrics that allow you to drift into thought and are a great lead into “It Ain’t Easier”, which is the peak of this album for me.

This album includes a wide variety of sounds taken from genres like funk, honky tonk country, & blues that are all connected together with a consistent Americana theme. Paul does a great job of changing his vocal style to match the tone of each song. Softening it for the slower introspective songs and bringing a fuller energy for the more up beat tunes.
