I love the way this album is a masterpiece in every sense of the word, conceptually impecable, the production is so inmersive that you can feel yourself in Kendricks situation, but this just being possible with the performance of Kendrick in this album, easily his 2nd or better performance in his career, just possibly behind TPAB, the BARS, the CONCEPT, the PRODUCTION, the Inmersion, I looooove it
I did actually liked all the songs in this albums, since each of them has or a catchy easy to like sound, or a message that fitted trough the hole album, but at some point it can be a bit exhausting, ever since the last 3 tracks, that are more kind giving the album a properly endingm but not fitting that well with THE OVERALL SOUND, but in general terms is a solid listening, i liked it a lot
simply a masterpiece, dont have much to say about it to be honest
I L O V E this record, in my head its a vacational sound in a tropical island, with all the good and bad things, you know, an horrendous rain, a storm, a very hot day, and some weird sounds that you can hear at the outside, but with all the beattiful things like the beach, the food and a relax experience.
Its a kind of background hip hop chill album, with great samples and an usual delivery by Westside Gunn
A Harsh and aggressive sound with some tracks that in an absolute chaos of maximalism you can find some lovely vocal performance, and hard punchline with the usual tasty and different danny brown delivery
So, i just listened to Rodeo and UTOPIA, and i do prefer UTOPIA as and overall project, some tracks i yhink are wack like that horrible drake feat, but is like riding a horse in maximum speed in a dark forest, you dont know what to expect next, that excites you but sometimes your horse reacts harsh to do some things and you fall from it (a starange comparison but its the way i see it)
So, i just finished listening to this, and idk if its good or bad just giving my first impressions, but as an album, this is defenitely one of the best ive ever heard in my whole life, it has a cohesive but impressive sound, the vocal performance of Beth Gibbons is nuts, for me it has no skips, the only reason its not a 100 its cuz im not used to this type of sound, but i think that it will grow on me sooner than later
Ethereal introspective and a TAAASTY production , liked i lot although i knew a lot of the songs here
I have A LOT OF PROBLEMS WITH THIS RECORD, Kanyes performance its by far the work in his career, there is a lot fo songs that sounds like it hasnt been finished yet, for me its just crazy how someone who made plenty of my favorite records its competing with her 10 years old daughter, i appreciate 2 things, the first oone is BURN, because at some point gives a hope that the reason why he performed that way trought the album is beceause he wanted to, this album has a lot of Ls, but i do enjoy ... read more
The first time i thought abt when i decided i was gonna review it i knew i had to talk about how it surpassed my expectations, i had this idea of Graduation likea an easy to like electronic rap-pop wich were more oriented as a concert breaker, wich is true, but thats simplifying this album SOOOO MUUCH, it has some of the best sample in kanyes history, also has really clever bars and a chill easy listen kind of rap, i like this album, BUT, i dont like Drunk and Hot Girls so its not perfect :P
I havent listened to a better first album for an unknow artist that the college dropout, imagine being an emergent rapper in 2004 whos trying to do and say what everybody is doing, and Kanye West release The College Dropout, people dont realize how hard is to change the way a hole consolidated industry being a newbie in the rap game. There is a rap game before and after The College Dropout, and it doesnt matter how hard Kanye drown his reputation, in undeniable how much he has contribuited to ... read more
( i had to translate this review cuz i couldnt put in words how much i love every aspect of this album while transalting it at the time) For me the cover of IGOR perfectly encapsulates the essence of this album, a colorless stain (it's the way I understand the aggressive, transgressive, and abrasive sound of the synthesizers) along with a completely flat but colorful background (for me it's something like this instrumentalization full of so many and varied sounds that all together sound like a ... read more
