 - Ants From Up There

Utterly rewarding, emotionally compelling and a match to the very high expectations that were set following their debut, For The First Time.

Already striking an emotive chord following the recent departure of Isaac from the band, Ants From Up There reaches new heights and sets a standard for 2022 - one that will be difficult to reach.

So glad they stuck with the Rap Rock sound - they really flex their versatility with this EP and it's an improvement on all fronts.

What an absolute powerhouse of an album - a fantastic sophomore release and an improvement on GREY AREA in so many ways.

The production is so rich and grand, Simbi's songwriting is well-crafted and the album is consistently paced; never bores over its 65 minute runtime.

Khalid's sophomore LP, 'Free Spirit' is consistent to the point of banality.

The LP lacks any sort of individuality that 'American Teen' had. His debut evoked the same feelings you feel as a teenager, following themes of youth, relationships, adventure, and freedom. 'Free Spirit', despite its title, has none of this. Khalid is no longer an 'American Teen', but his music has not developed as he has as a person: lacklustre songwriting, repetitive melodic structures, and basic radio-ready ... read more

From the acoustic-driven, 'Your City Gave Me Asthma', Wilbur Soot transitions fairly well into the new Brit-Rock endeavour, Lovejoy. The 4 track EP, 'Are You Alright?' has its inconsistencies, but functions as a great starting point for the band to build from.

'Taunt' is a fast-paced, The Kooks-inspired intro and sets the tone for the tracks to come: fast-paced and packed full of vibrant instrumentation. The production is done surprisingly well, although the vocals could be mixed slightly ... read more

 - ROADRUNNER: NEW LIGHT, NEW MACHINE

ROADRUNNER: NEW LIGHT, NEW MACHINE combines some of BROCKHAMPTON's greatest strengths; it features bangers such as the lead single, BUZZCUT and DON'T SHOOT UP THE PARTY, a beautiful bearface solo in DEAR LORD, and introspective, personal and emotional lyricism throughout.

Joba is one of the standout members in this particular release, detailing his personal trauma regarding his father on songs like THE LIGHT PT.1 and PT.2. They both have a strong emotional impact due to this, and with the ... read more
