The album Magma marks the beginning of Gojira’s descent into a more mainstream sound, while a couple of the songs are outstanding and some of the best songs Gojira has ever made, the rest are built with purely their emotions and not the actual sound of the rest of their music. I really can’t give them any more credit for this album because I know what they are capable of making and this doesn’t live up to my expectations.
This is a very strange album, it sees Gojira goes deeper into an experimental sound that I can’t tell if I really like or really dislike. I can’t say that this is one of my favourite Gojira albums but is quite far from the worst hint hint “Fortitude” which I won’t discuss right now, either way this album has the signature good heavy and wonky riffs along with the complex drumming and slowly changing style of vocals the are just sort of in between their debuts ... read more
