Equally sad as it is beautiful. This is Mac at his most mature in regards to lyrics, vocal performances, and overall sound. A perfect send off.
Some really fun highlights, and I LOVE “After Last Night”, but it has too many forgettable tracks to be truly GREAT. Still it’s a solid album and a fun one to revisit on occasion, I just won’t be thinking about it for too long afterwards…
Easily Mac’s most underrated album, fight me. It’s just too pretty to not enjoy, and it’s tracklist is more than enough of a reason to constantly revisit the project.
FAVOURITE TRACKS:
1. God is Fair, Sexy Nasty
2. Congratulations
3. Cinderella
Impeccable flows, lyricism, and storytelling make “The Forever Story” JID’s best project yet as well as possibly 2022’s most memorable rap album release.
The run of songs from “Raydar” to “Surround Sound” is also one of the most perfect runs I have heard from any rap album and is a large part of what keeps me coming back. But although I wouldn’t say the album quite reaches that height again, it also never misses.

A hugeee improvement over the bands previous albums. Consistently enjoyable, incredible lyrics and vocal performances, fitting instrumentals that elevate the experience, and interesting song ideas that are all executed extremely well. Everything comes together so well, resulting in Tender Prey being The Bad Seeds first overwhelming success in their discography.
On top of that, the replay value seems to be very high as every time I revisit it I find something new to love about it. Although ... read more
Really really enjoyable. But it lacks substance which can make the album a forgettable experience.
JID’s first studio album is a pretty strong one quality wise. But it pales in comparison to what he will release after, leaving The Never Story to be kinda forgettable besides a few standout tracks.
FAVOURITES
1. Lauder
2. Never
3. Hereditary
Actually pretty impressive how consistent in quality and engagement this 90 spiral into substance fueled depression is…
Truly some of Mac’s best work.
Billie’s first full-length album remains just as aesthetically and conceptually interesting 4 years later.
A usually enjoyable listen, but it rarely feels like it has anything in particular to make it stand out
Well ig everyone’s gotta start somewhere. While it isn’t the worst thing ever, by Radiohead standards, it’s as bad as it gets. It’s just incredibly generic and usually bores with very few highlights.
But Creep is EASILY the bands most overhated song,,,
Combining the fun listening experience of KIDS with the mature themes of MACADELIC, Mac’s second album brings cleaner production, and perhaps his best rapping to date. However, it is sadly let down a bit by a few forgetting tracks that occasionally make the project feel like it is overstaying it’s welcome.
Dark and twisted with a surprising amount of substance, Macadelic proves to be Mac’s most mature project at that time. While it may not have any clear mainstream hits, it is FULL of some of his most underrated tracks, most of which transition into each other perfectly.
This is some really good shit, and a clear sign of what was to come in his career.
“1 Threw 8” is also one of Mac’s best songs, FIGHT ME.
Lana’s debut LP does have some highlights but the album is mostly carried by its production that tries to hide the weak lyricism. When I first heard the album, I was much more impressed. But now that I have heard what Lana will do later in her career, returning to this was a disappointing and underwhelming experience.
I guess I’m a little bit late to the party, but fuck is this an amazing debut. Perfectly paced without a single underwhelming track. And some real career highlights here also, (I’m looking at you “Opus”). Although Isaac Wood’s time with the bad was unfortunately short-lived, the impact he left with these first two albums is undeniable and he is easily one of my favourite leads to any band.
This album truly is the start of something great.
A really disappointing step-down in quality from the mixtapes that came before
If Ayye was a part of the core tracklist, it would be one of the highlights of the album. “Back in the Day” also solid and both albums make the deluxe edition feel worthy of being listened to (occasionally) over the original version.
While it does lack a bit of the charm that KIDS has, the celebratory vibes of the project are just too fun to dislike. The tracks vary a bit too much in quality compared to its predecessor, but overall the mixtape doesn’t feel like it suffers too much because of it.
Sure it’s not technically his best, and I’m not the biggest fan of some of the samples used, but this is probably Mac’s funnest project to date and the perfect place to start if you are looking to get into his discography.
