MOTS Vol. 2 is an upgrade from Vol. 1, although not much. Meh. The band tried to get "more serious" and be "experimental" with the second volume of the Spheres, and in my opinion, they didn't do that much.
Lyrics. The biggest issue that I have with this (and some of the songs off of Vol. 1) are the lyrics. Chris' writing in this one is probably the worst (so far), and some of the things he says here is just... so shallow, incomplete, and borderline corny (and ... read more
Bumped up my rating from 80 to 85. Song slaps, like, really hard; not as hard as the two singles that preceded it, but good nonetheless. Interestingly, my favourite parts were the verses and pre-chorus, it's just so catchy and vibey. The chorus, and the 'breakdown' that was teased a while ago still hits though, just not what I expected from what they teased.
All-in-all, good Muse song. Pretty much still hyped for the new album.
Erra's 'the silence outlives the earth' is a decent attempt at blending metalcore/djent with synths and cool electronics. Unfortunately, the album gets "samey" as it went on.
The first three songs are really cool - probably my favourites. Stelliform has thiss cool guitar lick which is simple, but very effective; the chorus also slaps. The same can be applied for Further Eden. Gore of Being is a bit more aggressive, but it blends good melodies with chunky riffs and ... read more
My first Don Broco album. I can say that I like the mix of rock, metal, and pop elements in this one; has some really catchy and great choruses. It has this "experimental" side to it, like how it jumps through some notes and even changing some time signatures here and there, which I appreciate. Makes some songs fun.
I'll say though, that the production and mixing in this album is annoying, sometimes. Dan Lancaster, a longtime collaborator of Bring Me the Horizon (and now Muse), ... read more
Damn, they really tricked us with those teasers huh. I wasn't looking for something as heavy as Unravelling; the reason I liked that song because it has cool songwriting—this one doesn't. It's just... blegh.
Filler.
EDIT (2026/4/7): The song grew on me, a bit. I think it's still meh, but it ain't that bad; has some interesting bits here and there that "sets it apart" from a regular pop rock song. Could've been better though.
