Shoutout to @FÈRINA again for this!!!
All of these singles thats been dropping have been so friggin good FRFR!! The use of samples of here is so good for the atmosphere it creates. Excited for more!
(P.S. I'm sorry im so late dawg HAPPY LATE BDAY FÈRINA!!!!!)
Another album suggested by a girl i know (oOooOooOoO).
It's a sweet little indie pop album and I feel like the cover fits how the music sounds perfectly. Just very bright and joyful!
(P.S. If those last 3 or so songs weren't there, that would've been PEACHY)
ANIMAL COLLECTIVE DEEP DIVE #31 (SOLO PANDA BEAR): PANDA BEAR
This is my favorite flavor of weird!
This is a good time to mention that I find it so interesting how far ahead of their time every member truly is (especially early AnCo). It like there's no one genre (or even handful of genres honestly) that they fit into. There's a lack of structure in majority of these early tracklists, yet it feels complete yk? I just really appreciate them for that.
For the album itself, this ... read more
100 FOLLOWER SPECIAL!!! THANKS YALL!!
(Disclaimer: this review has darker topics such as death and mental health. You’ve been WARNED)
This is the most important album that I’ve ever heard, and at my lowest, may have been the thing keeping me here.
Back in around the summer of 2025, I felt burnt out beyond belief. A little bit about me here, I’m always hella busy with something. I was always juggling schoolwork, dual enrollment, artwork, and volunteer work for my ... read more
ANIMAL COLLECTIVE DEEP DIVE #30 (SOLO AVEY TARE): 7s
I PROMISE my rating isn't a stupid pun I'm so for real I PROMISE!
I absolutely love a good chunk of this solo project (surprisingly including the 2 longest songs), the instrumentation is all so soothing and some great bass-heavy beats that's usually present in most of these Avey projects, but really stands out in the best way possible on here.
HOWEVER. My biggest problems lie on the last 2 songs. I wish I liked them just a ... read more
This album has music on it!
It is by Sabrina Carpenter!
There are 12 songs!
A what is running down your what? Huh??
For real, though, this is just a very middle-of-the-road pop record. I don't feel any type of way towards it. I will say I like Sabrina's sense of humor...to an extent.
(P.S. Call me basic, but Manchild is KINDA FIRE)
ANIMAL COLLECTIVE DEEP DIVE #28 (SOLO AVEY TARE): COWS ON HOURGLASS POND
This is Avey's best solo work so far, and one of my favorite recent-ish AnCo projects (Damn, 2019 was 7 years ago??)
All the previous nitpicks I had on his other albums are pretty much improved, and there's not a SINGLE miss out of these songs in my opinion. It's a lot more lighthearted without risking the level of immersion the last 2 albums had (mainly talking about "Down There"), and one of ... read more
ANIMAL COLLECTIVE DEEP DIVE #27 (SOLO AVEY TARE): EUCALYPTUS
I love the idea of acoustic stuff back in an AnCo-related project, but something feels...missing...
I saw somebody online mention that this is like the acoustic version of the "Feels" album by the full band, and I think that just about covers it for how this project sounds, outside of the occasional MPP-sounding synth. I appreciate the experimentation here, of course, but creative elements are too far apart from each ... read more
Your telling me we went from primates hitting rocks together and hitting twigs on the ground to Dance Yrself Clean?? F a music landmark this is a HUMANITY landmark cuz like dawg that song is PERFECT.
(P.S. I actually forgot to review this i actually heard it like a couple weeks ago mb)
(P.S. #2. POW POW POW POW POW POW POW POW POW)
Just replacing an old review i had on here, it kinda sucked lmao.
But again SHE IS THE MOTORCYLCE??!!!! I'm still trippin about this after all the years of thinking it was just a cool pose 😭.
(P.S. I'm like really scared rn)
HAPPY 20TH ANNIVERSARY TO ONE OF MY FAVORITE ALBUMS OF ALL TIME!!!!
I was asked to submit a piece to one of my local art exhibits for a black history month event, and I wanted to represent somebody who isn't super known to the public, but influential beyond belief.
Obviously on sites like AOTY and RYM, J Dilla is far from unknown. A top 100 album will definitely make you known here. But surprisingly, a majority of people have no idea who the hell I'm talking about, even with my dad ... read more
ANIMAL COLLECTIVE DEEP DIVE #26 (SOLO AVEY TARE): DOWN THERE
This is actually really sad... :(
By itself, it's a fairly decent and serviceable record with some really good standouts, but the context around its lyrics represents a really dark time in Avey's life. The guy was going through a divorce, his sister was undergoing cancer treatment, and dealing with the grief of his grandmother's passing, all at the same time, which inspired the creation of this project.
I feel like ... read more
We need to be honest here. This is J Cole's best project in a decade.
The main purpose of a "retirement" album should not only feel like a satisfactory conclusion, but also as a reflection of their life leading up to this point in their career, and I think this album achieves that.
I've always respected Cole's insane pen game and line delivery, but "The Fall-Off" literally has some of the best bars and overall tracks of his whole discography, and the added ... read more
Did an album trade with a girl i know (OoOoooOooOooo) and it was a lot better than I anticipated!!
There's definitely a lot of Laufey influence, but I like how the jazzier instruments and the heartfelt songwriting turn into its own thing. Sweet lil debut!!
(P.S. I suggested MPP by Animal Collective. I'm trying SO hard to not yap about em too much, both irl and online lmao)

ANIMAL COLLECTIVE DEEP DIVE #24 (SOLO GEOLOGIST): CAN I GET A PACK OF CAMEL LIGHTS?
I didn't even know this was coming out frfr. PERFECT TIMING FOR THE SERIES!!!
To put it simply, this is very different than Geologist's debut, and it is LEAGUES better in every component and more. He blends so many different sounds and genres that honestly should NOT work like AT ALL, yet I'm obsessed with how new and fresh this sounds to my precious ears. There are some dull moments scattered ... read more
ANIMAL COLLECTIVE DEEP DIVE #23 (SOLO GEOLOGIST): A SHAW DEAL
I love the superpowered light that's infused into Geologist's frontal lobe 🤗
A part of me wanted to give this an even lower score on first listen (like 40s low), but I randomly decided to listen to the whole thing over again an hour later to see if it'd resonate with me or something like that. I still wouldn't call this "great" or anything, but I have growing respect for Geologist as an artist after ... read more
Don Toliver doing a KID ROCK interpolation was NOT on my 2026 bingo card 😭
You know, I feel like Don Toliver has a crazy amount of potential to make a fantastic friggin album, but he just needs more versatility. He sticks to pretty much one or two formulas and rides with them for the whole project. This album is a good example.
There are PLENTY of highlights on here, like I swear some of these songs got me levitating. But there are so many similarities between songs, it all bleeds and ... read more
ANIMAL COLLECTIVE DEEP DIVE (SOLO DEAKIN) #22: SLEEP CYCLE
Shoutout to @IKnowILuvUBetta for helping me choose a solo project to begin with!!
HOW DOES THIS NOT HAVE A MUST HEAR???
Something I've always loved about Deakin is that his vocal style and songwriting have always felt more personal and grounded in reality than other AnCo members. Not saying that Panda and Avey aren't capable of those types of songs, quite the opposite actually. But the more layered yet calm sound on here ... read more
