Very cool EBM project. 47 minutes of nonstop overstimulating noise that sounds like an intergalactic war in 2099.
It took a few listens, but I get it now. DSOTM is certainly not an album to play at any moment, but when presented the opportune circumstances it becomes an ethereal experience that will not be forgotten for many moons. I sat on a bench while the sun set and cars rushed past to my right; the sounds of the world became a part of the music rather than a distraction. The narrative of the songs was real, as opposed to a simple story being relayed. The fear and pain of humanity's plight is laid ... read more
The many sounds of the mixtape come together to create an experience that goes down smooth. The features are shockingly stacked, delivering energetic verses. IDK himself has so many different inflections and slick bars that prove his immense talent, and this project puts them on display wonderfully.
For the first time in over 15 years Gorillaz releases an album that left me feeling full. Gorillaz projects lately have been good, but since Plastic Beach nothing scratched that same itch until 2026. The tracklist blends traditional Indian sounds with electronic dance and synthy soul. An unorthodox combo, but if anybody was going to pull it off, it's Gorillaz. Of course, their typical hip hop collaborators are still present. Part of the reason that their new music was less impressive was ... read more
Keem's Sophomore release is honest and vulnerable. His writing is at its peak since he started and production is always doing something different. I wouldn't mind if the sequencing was changed, as the album flip flops between emotional tracks and bangers constantly. While it is a great collection of tracks, it doesn't feel like much of an album sometimes. It didn't manage to blow me away, but I was consistently impressed by the leap in quality Keem has made with this ... read more
Humanz is still the weakest Gorillaz project to date. Not just in the sense that it's long, because it's not much longer than other Gorillaz projects. The feature list is one of the largest I've ever seen, and they range from great to mid. For example, Pusha T is a great rapper, but his contribution on his respective track feels out of place. One of the biggest complaints I share with most people is that the extensive feature list leads to a lack of Damon himself. His voice is ... read more
I think the cover says it all. The album's colorful and bouncy, but sounds very safe. It's basically a well-made pop album that most artists could have or already have made. Still very different for Gorillaz, but they have shown that they can do so much more (especially with the recent release of The Mountain). It manages to land in that modern realm of put the best songs on a playlist and never listen to the rest again. I don't hate it. I am glad however, that this was not the ... read more
This is the most J Cole J Cole album possible; whether that's good or bad depends on the individual. I've never been a big Cole fan, but I acknowledge his lyrical talent and above average production. I have tried multiple times to get into his older discography to no avail. Maybe low expectations made this a better listen for me, because I thought it was pretty good. There are many songs that sound great and others with great lyricism. Sometimes those positives overlap, and sometimes ... read more
No clue what Amory Wars is, but this was a solid listen. Sanchez has a unique voice that you either love or hate; I believe it's one of the only things making Coheed and Cambria unique. Other than concept, (which I am not tapped into) there are great instrumentations and there are repetitive ones. It makes for a pretty fun road trip and grew on me a lot since the first listen.
Radiohead's insane hot streak had to come to an end at some point, but TKOL isn't that bad. It's better than some would make it out to be and far worse than their other projects.
No clue what this mfs saying but it's hard. Mix of old and new Puerto Rican music style makes for a unique listen. This isn't made for me, but I can still appreciate its musicality from a distance. Very impressive.
While MF DOOM handles production, lesser known rappers are typically at the forefront of the verses. They all do very well, even if they aren't on the same level as the supervillain. The variety makes for a fun listen, as DOOM's impressive verses can become one note after a while. His production is top notch as always, and the concept is pretty clever. More DOOM is always a good thing.
Despite being one of the most unique voices in hiphop, Don Toliver once again manages to make a project with impressively few standout moments. Production and vocals are good, but there is practically no inspiration in Toliver's writing skills. He's been doing the exact same thing for years and it is only enough to stay interesting for a feature verse. When on his own, Toliver's lack of creativity becomes apparent quickly. He's in that Travis Scott realm of being popular, ... read more
Why must all dope music have a following of annoying white bastards and why must I be one of them
i am evil we are evil BLEEEEEEEEGH idk black metal has never been super interesting to me but I do appreciate the raw and airy production. It really feels like 2 crackheads and running around screaming in the forest, and I like that.
